ANH Jawa Stunt ION Blaster & Alternate Blaster / Tool RESEARCH THREAD

It’s crazy.. the reason I’m believing this is the v2 clamp is the weathering in the clamp box section

Is it me or does it look like the weathering matches perfectly?

Honestly it doesn’t have to have the long lever, this could be before the lever broke and was replaced

BUT I swear I see the thread sticking out the locking block, like it does on the v2 with the long lever

I’m willing to bet that lever is on there at this time

This is a really exciting discovery, I never knew a Jawa blaster had a clamp on it, let alone it possibly being the v2 clamp

Danny your the V2 guru so when you see something its most likely correct, I looked at my build and was able to turn the lever two more rotations extending the thread further out of the block, how does this look?

I was thinking more on the Backpack and the more I looked at the Screen Caps the more it looked like an old Watchman Clock, I did some searching and found some possible options.

I discussed with Markus OdiWan72 who also did some research & comparison with the Screen Caps and concluded that many of the vintage Watchman Clocks looked possible options as they have an off-centered keyhole which would be a perfect match for the spot where the cable is attached on the screen-used Backpack, also when you zoom in on the Backpack you can make out rivets around the edge, which some of the Watchman Clocks have, a possible match are the DETEX Corp. Watchman Clocks.

I would be interested in other views on the Backpack and possible options.

Those things are just so weird and cool to me. What an interesting invention!

I forget where I first learned about them. Shoot, it could've been here on the RPF! But I'm not sure.

Wow. They are remarkably close. Its that combination of photos 1 and 2. Off centre clock face and off centre keyhole.
How on earth did you know that a watchman clock even existed?

In my younger years I did security work and some of the sites had these clocks, it took the old brain cells a while to remember lol!!

They look bulky for just a clock. Did they open up like a case to carry keys and so on?

I have just read this. Fascinating if a little off topic

"The approximately five pound circular watchclock was enclosed in a black leather pouch attached to a leather strap and carried over the shoulder. Inside buildings mounted near doors, were watchclock stations consisting of a small metal box with a hinged lid, which contained a numbered key affixed by a twelve-inch chain. The watchman would insert the key into the clock, rotate it and a numeric stamp would be pressed onto a roll or disk of paper locked inside the clock."

SethS and RoCKo

I have begun to dribble a tad in the last week, it's partly a getting old thing but mostly due to fixing failed updates and bootloops for the last month solid - like what R2 is experiencing in that TFA film lol. Hopefully you made sense of it, eventually.

There's not much else in the way of info or reference numbers for the exact connectors at this time but it looks like there could be three different sizes for the whole connector part. As usual there can be approx six variations of a MOD part (before the pattern is changed) so if someone with the graflex clamp can estimate the size of the connector's widest plug end that may help to work out if the full connector is the small or medium or large size.

There is a site called 'electrojumble' with a simple write-up on the part - but be careful the site looks to be insecure.

So Google - Pattern 104 Plessey Circular MK4 and MK7

Haha-- even with a product page I still couldn't tell you what these are exactly. A type of electrical cable?

Yes this is how they worked you can see the keys in the first image (each key is different numbered) and when the key is turned it would mark the time the Watchman checked that location where the key was located on the paper disk in the second image.

I went through downloaded Screen Caps and whilst the quality is slightly lower they do provide additional reference.
