ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

This thread is amazing and has inspired me to start working on a Denix Mauser I have. Tons of work to do, and a long wait for the next round of parts.

One thing I never found in this or any other thread: What size screws hold real grips on? My Denix has wood grips, so I figured bore out the center of the horizontal bar and put a brass screw through both sides with an escutcheon and nut. To me it looks like a #5 or #6 screw.

Not sure, but iirr toddscostume has a escutcheon set.
Might be worth a try.

I like esspecially their scope, it looks like a real one.

Yes, the Toddcostumes scope really is quite amazing. Looks to be a fully functional scope with focus and everything.

I did find these. $19 for a pack of 6. Usually $15 for just one set for the Mauser. Answered my own question since the screw here is a #5-40

Well, I got impatient and started messing around. After scrolling through most of this thread the last month I was only able to find a few key measurements for things, most of what seemed like the relevant posts had broken image links attached.

So, I've done a bunch of guessing. But from those guesses I've rough spun a few parts on a lathe this week, a basic bull barrel and a section of the flash hider that has no detail or cone yet. IMG_20160218_100936927_HDR.jpgIMG_20160218_101027127.jpg

The plan so far, while having close to beginner skill levels on the metal lathe, is to make the cone and body separate and thread them together at the middle and then seat them both on the end of the bull barrel with tiny set screws.

Ahg.

Cutting both the inside and outside angles of the cone is the part that scares me the most, though, by hand and with no computer aid makes me want to throw up.

Looks awesome! Can't wait to see the flash hider!

Sir, I believe there's a no pornography policy here on the boards. ;)

That is beautiful. Is it the steel DEC parts? The finish on them looks great.

*nvm I clicked through and all my q's were a'd*

I had a bit of time to work on this frankenstein project.

I finally mated the BB gun bits to the old Denix body....not a fun task. As many of you know the Denix is a very soft casting...so there wasn't a straight reference line to be found.
Long job...but the crisper upper now sits on the Denix lower.

I also machined a clip cover to fit on the Denix.

My DEC bits came in and finished like a charm...thanks Dave.

As with the laser etching for the mauser markings...I also used the laser and cheated a bit on the scratches for the scope mount. It made quick work of them based on the hero ref.
images. I still have to put the scratches on the scope itself.

A few more bits to machine and its off to the electronics and final finishing getting the Denix back to black.

So the trigger/hammer/action assembly (or I guess the entire upper receiver) is from the bb gun? Do you have a link to this bb gun?

And the magwell plate looks great. Very nice machine work! You might as well take the extra step and make the detent pin/spring and enlarge that hole to make it functional!

Hi Dann

The BB gun is this type:

There are a number of versions of it...all looking about the same from my point of view. From what I have seen this is the style that was used in TFA

Does anyone have a good photo of all 5 of primary Han Solo DLs together? Looking for an easy reference of all the differences.
