ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

Nice job with the paint! Color looks good. You can always add a little blue color to the Denix too. You can try to scrub down the black a bit with 000 steel wool and layer some of that blue you used on the barrel. Should look awesome.

Paint the frame and mount but scrub the black mostly off the trigger, hammer and bolt slide. You can leave the crossbar and grill blacker.

Also can you the 000 or 0000 to dull and smooth the final paint and then you can either clear coat or wax to protect.

Looking really good!

Awesome work with those transparent paints! That gives off a really slick look. :thumbsup

It would be interesting to see how a replica Mauser would look with that finish. What look do you plan on going for with your Denix, a blued look or the painted finish?

Thanks guys! I was going to 'blue' up the Denix as well, but I wanted to hear your thoughts. It seems you like the blue parts so I guess I will! If anyone thinks it doesn't look good and talked me out of it I was going to re-paint the blue parts, and the Denix black. But everyone likes what I've done?

Looks terrific! How did you darken the flash suppressor? Everything looks terrific, makes me rethink my own paint job for something similar!

I varied slightly from screen accurate, wanting a more Star Wars flair, so I changed the standard reticle from the scope to this I found here. It's not permanent, so if I ever do decide to go back, I can.

The simulated bluing looks awesome! But when it comes to the Mauser's finish it all depends on what look your going for. More along the lines of Accurate would be a flat black painted finish on your Denix, and the blued look would be slightly more custom kinda like the pre-pro photos of the unpainted blaster. :thumbsup

Keep up the great builds, everyone!

Lots of great blasters here! I'm just getting started on mine. I've got a Denix on its way! I'm defiantly gonna be taking some queues from you guys.

I found the design on here actually, then had it printed on a transparency at kinkos. Then I put a piece of white plastic behind it. I figured since its not a real scope anyways that if I loose ALL visibility it wasn't a big deal.

Thanks man! I guess I'll finish it up with the 'blued' look! :)

I just found this thread. Signed up so I could perhaps get in on the next run of parts. I've had a Denix for years that has been sitting in a drawer, waiting for display quality parts.

I know I'm beating a dead horse ;) ... but... is there any news on the tomtit parts? My speeder is getting closer to being ready for them :D :D

thanks
