Re: Thinking of getting a Star Wars Han Solo Blaster

You can start with one of the metal airsofts. Here's one from Amazon:

Amazon.com: Full Metal Airsoft Pistol Mauser C96 Style Full Scale…

Now for the scope and flash hider, were you thinking about going CNC'd aluminum or is resin parts okay for those?

If you want to go all metal, and money isn't a serious concern, check out John's other spot on the Web . You can probably get some better prices out there, but that's a start. Good luck :)

Re: Thinking of getting a Star Wars Han Solo Blaster

I'm actually in the same boat, hoping to find all metal and have it up for display and out from time to time. Thanks for info up top, for some reason I could not find blast-tech's site last few days.

Re: Thinking of getting a Star Wars Han Solo Blaster

There's a company called Denix that makes metal mauser replicas that are good. Lots of folks here have used them as the basis for their DL-44s. Check into it.

Re: Thinking of getting a Star Wars Han Solo Blaster

You definitely want a Denix instead of the airsoft.
The airsoft is not the correct type of Mauser for the Han blasters.
You want the 1896 style.

Would you happen to know what the differences between the Denix 1896 and the C-96 airsoft? The only thing I could find were references to the style of the hammer (cone, ring, and small ring).

Here's a link I found that you might find useful if you go the Denix path:

If you keep your eys open you might be able to find an MR Elite edition for a decent price (the origenal one is almost always pricy). I think I got mine for like $200.00

Get in touch with CorellianExports here on the RPF. He'll be able to point you in the right direction.

the one i seen from the very first star wars movie with the long scope ,they had one for 285.00 which aint to bad ,just curious of its accuracy.....it had the long scope on it ,thats the one i have always wanted.....

Re: Thinking of getting a Star Wars Han Solo Blaster

yeah thats the one ,are they accurate or is it a cheap deal........

I ordered a Denix mauser replica last week from online and was looking at the upgrade parts kit for the ANH on blastech's website.
I am told his stuff is "mostly accurate"....whatever the heck that means. Well, I know what it means, but when I hear that term it makes me want to go for "completely accurate" but at the moment I haven't been able to pin down a supplier that offers all-metal parts for the ANH blaster.

Re: Thinking of getting a Star Wars Han Solo Blaster

Blastech's DL44 components would be a a great way to convert your Denix Mauser. They're well priced for metal, and while I haven't dealt with him personally, I've heard very good things from folks who have. To my eye, the parts are extremely accurate, though, as started on his site, the scopes aren't actually functional. Some folks would also argue that there should be a milled 'plug' replacing the segment of barrel between the flash hider and the breech, but I never thought it necessary since I don't think it's visible in all shots of the blaster anyway.

At thier price, you could also consider watching ebay for a good deal on one of the Master Replica versions.
I have the Denix Mauser coming to me in the mail this week. I have a lot of time to find the parts I need to soup it up....

OOOOO ,when you get it can you throw some pictures on here when you recieve it in the mail, I would love to see that !!!!!!!!!

Re: Thinking of getting a Star Wars Han Solo Blaster

I just got my Denix in the mail.
I love the weight and feel of it and I'm very excited to convert it myself. There is a certain allure of buying a ready to display licenced prop, but for props like this - which were modified from existing items - there is a special feeling you get when you can modify the thing yourself just like the original prop makers did.
When I come across a parts kit, I will start a new thread to show the build.
