An RPF Open Source 5 ft Millennium Falcon Build/Reference Thread. All Are Welcome

If I upscale the PG Falcon it looks like the height measurement above is about 3mm. Thoughts?

This is what I came up with. I still don't have an exact depth for the inside, but that should be easy one parts start going together. Criticism is always welcome.

I'm using Shapr3d on the iPad. It works really well with the Apple Pencil.

Learning how to make a sphere was a big deal today. LOL

Yea I can relate. My problem is getting good polyflow across objects. Sometimes they get real funky. Be careful, 3d building can be addictive, like map making, ; )

If you ever have trouble with a particular shape, this site is helpful. The first pages will be missing photos, as they are ancient, but there's tons of good stuff here.

Thanks. That will be very helpful. I have no idea how I’m going to do this one. It’s the last part I need for this.

If you have a way to put pictures in the background of your modeling program. You can trace the picture, to make that cross section. I'm not familiar with your program, so I'm not sure if it can do that. That's how I do it in lightwave.

I just tried that. The only problem is the spline function isn’t that great…or I need more practice. It’s a little wonky on the curve.

Yea I use the bezier curve function in LW. It can be finicky as well. Another thing I do on a shape like that is draw out a disk to match the curve and then drop a few points below to make the angled sides. It's easier to do than explain, lol. But LW is a poly modeler not surface. So it's probably a whole different animal.

Good call on using the circles. Much better. Thanks!
