An RPF Open Source 5 ft Millennium Falcon Build/Reference Thread. All Are Welcome

That's one of the great things about virtual objects, if they aren't right you don't have to break out the knives and saws, lol. I don't know what type of statistics your program has, but I always have to check for stray points and non planer poly's. Usually your slicer will throw out an error message. But you probably know this. As small as most kit parts are, at least we're not losing a lot of filament or resin when we goof up.

Thought I'd see if I could model one of your parts from just the pictures you posted. Let me know how I did. ; )

Didn't have any dimensions, so it's way big. Dome might be a bit tall. Which kit is this from, I might have it ?

Getting closer. Still need a few parts. I'm hoping to have the numbers on them today and then I'll upload them to my shared drive. (Link in first post)

Nice work. Great computer work which I still find hard to do.
Appreciate your effort as well as that of many of the past Falcon veterans that have produced maps of this great model. Their many years of being a 1977 “cold case” kit parts detective without the the internet and computers.

Thanks. Those guys did the heavy lifting. I just like organizing stuff and figured these updates would help folks.

Okay so I’ve been working on the docking rings and looking at the existing blueprints I can’t seem to calculate these dimensions. Have they been nailed down officially? Any suggestions? I’ll make official drawings/3D files available if I can get them nailed down.

jcoffnan99,
For what it’s worth, a micrometer carefully used on the 1/72 Bandai Falcon is a good check when dimensions are in doubt or unknown and kit part bench marks do not help. I use the 3.511 multiplier developed by one of the RPF veterans.

I have found that one needs to be constant in rounding off. The nearest 1/32 inch works for me with 1/64 the best my eyes can do for small parts.

Those very small measurements are tricky. Measuring a critical item a few times helps assure accuracy. Be aware of “stack up” when measuring a string of item lengths separately or selecting material thickness.

I measure constantly during my build to check construction as-built, edge distances, those larger armor segment gaps and recently even on surface ”chips” to get proportions reasonably correct.

Best of luck.

Perfect, I'm hoping to get a Saturn S for Christmas. Hope I can get it to work as well as my Ender 3. I know they're totally different animals.

Any idea what part fell off here? This is in the mandible pit. Looks like some type of rectangular grill.
