American Guns on Discovery

So, I was really hoping to see a show about a family run gun shop that portrayed the people on the show as knowledgeable, safe and responsible human beings.

Rich Wyatt is someone I knew of as a firearms instructor, and he was a host on some of the gun related TV shows I've watched over the years. I've always though he was a pretty funny guy. I did not know he was a gunsmith, or that he had a business like Gunsmoke.

I really enjoyed the first episode. It's structured a little too much like Sons of Guns for my taste, but hopefully that will change if the show takes off and they can find their own style. I really hope it sticks around. We can never have too many shows about guns as far as I'm concerned.

:love

I'm good with anything that portrays firearms and the law abiding citizens who own and use them in positive ways. I think there has been a real awakening to that in the last few years.

I am watching it but this show is weak.

The nepotism is so hilariously blatant, it would make a successful SNL skit.

The Mom is supposed to be "A chuck-bustin business woman" and yet her husband is immediately caught tossing every free dollar they have in a bag. Even if he knows how to buy guns, that was weak. I wouldn't let him handle the books or the check book. He'd get an allowance.

It's a family business. You can't really cry nepotism when it's a family run business.

I enjoyed seeing them make the single action army, and the engraving work was cool. I've considered doing engraving myself so I thought that was fun to watch.

Just came across this show and am enjoying it. I don't really care about the family dynamics (reality shows aren't real), I like seeing the weapons.

What's Sons of Guns?

These reality shows will always have some form of 'crisis' or 'conflict' injected into it artificially to make it interesting to more viewers. People who are wholly competent and never make a mistake are boring to many viewers.

It's got to be done in two days!!!

Yeah, ridiculous **** like that.

Seems like every one of these shows has that deadline whether it's guns, restorations, or American Hotrod where the owner would be a real jerk to them if they missed the deadline by an hour even if it wasn't their fault. Sadly I think some of these guys aren't acting and are like that.
Ever notice when one of these shows is hot it suddenly has a clone on another station?
Discovery had one about jousting and now history is getting one and now that guns are hot every station owned by Discovery Communications has a show about shooting or gunsmithing.

Somebody needs to do a comedy mocking all these "reality" shows.
Combine a bunch into something like..

"Ghost hunting little people restoration pickers ice road alaska pilots with guns and a pawn shop."

Now that would be something!

And they have to design a Ghost killing gun from crap they found in people's old barns after flying to Alaska and use it to kill a dwarf ghost that haunts a pawn shop.

IN ONLY TWO DAYS!!!!

YEEEEEP!
Throwing in a little Storage Wars too.

It's at least worthy of an SNL skit.

Well, at least the daughter is smokin' hot!! The daughter on Sons of Guns looks like a 70's porn star. I mean, my god, who does her eye makeup? Yeesh!!

Paige Wyatt comes off as a Paris Hilton wannabe who knows absolutely nothing about firearms other than being able to use one. Stephanie Hayden, on the other hand, seems to have extensive knowledge on all types of firearms from antiques to modern day. The deciding factor comes down to the fact that Paige is jail bait.

I think Stephanie has got that cute girl next door appearance, and has a pretty nice personality though she seems easily shaken on the show. Can't speak for Paige, but she seems overly sexualized in the pics I've seen. Essentially, show enough T&A where she doesn't have to have any noticable skills or knowledge.
