IMHO, Without Remorse could easily be translated into current themes... Afganistan instead of Vietnam, Cartels instead of Baltimore drug dealers. It would take good writing, which is in seriously short supply these days. And the writing is my biggest beef with the Jack Ryan series... it's awful.
The other issue is the genre is so overloaded with straight to video crap these days, and John Clark doesn't have the name recognition of Jack Ryan, so it would be difficult to get the backing to do it right. It's hard enough to do justice to Clancy in a movie, much less with a shoestring budget.
