I'm redoing the paintjob on the leather back plate of my Commando Cody rocketpack and need a recommendation for leather paint with an aluminum finish. I asked Don Coleman the man who made my pack what he used. He said Skin Flex 2 with aluminum powder but he didn't think it was made anymore. Anybody have any suggestions?

Is it real leather or a synthetic? In Australia (I guess it is available in the US) we have a paint brand Dupli-colour that is specifically designed for car interiors. It seems to be acetone based, dries fast (about 20 seconds) and remains flexible without cracking or peeling. I have not used it on real leather, but it is awesome on vinyl and plastics including PVC. Because of the acetone base, it is great for ABS as well as it bites right in to the plastic.

Here is my test on some vinyl before painting some shoes.
