Alternatives for 3D webbing? Would hot glue work?

I was trying to come up with cheap ways to create 3D webbing for a Spider-Man Suit when I thought of hot glue. Has anyone ever tried this, would it even work?

Surely it would be more flexible and a lot less prone to breaking up than puffy paints, and you can even buy glue sticks that are different colours (heck, I’ve seen metallic and glitter varieties online.) Thoughts?

I wonder if you might have more luck adding pigment to a good fabric adhesive. I've used hot glue on fabric before, and it doesn't hold too well in my experience.

For my venom suit, I used black puffy paint. It stretches fine but I also painted it while the spandex was stretched over a mannequin of myself with my muscle suit on as well. Now when I put the suit on, stretching and breakage is minimal. Don’t use hot glue, it doesn’t stretch.
