None of this matters, it is all minutia.

Yep. A while back I posted the message that we may not have affected ANYTHING as far as bidding.
Causality and correlation can be confused sometimes. Our conversation is relative to ourselves, what anyone else thinks of it, is up to them.

This thread has nearly 25,000 views. Clearly, people are watching, even if not all of them are commenting.

The could be legal factors at work. Remember, these items were technically the property (PROPS!) of the studio, even after the show was cancelled. Props given away--or stolen--by people associated with the show (or not) could potentially face some legal blowback, hence a desire for anonymity.
I don’t think any auction house would expose themselves like that. I’ve seen items pulled over the suggestion that an item wasn’t obtained legally. I remember a DMV change in the rules surrounding VIN tags on restored cars temporarily excluding dozens of cars b/c ownership couldn’t be legally established.

Just spitballing. There are other potential reasons, hopefully besides petty and unprofessional stuff, like lording it over the prop community and/or passing off a fake as real purely for money or "expert consulting fees" or whatever.

Well, here is indisputable proof that the phaser *IS* legit.

Kirk uses that very phaser to bring down Optimus Prime.

In other news, Star Trek is now suing Hasbro for illegal use of their character Optimus prime.

Neil de Grasse Tyson has provided "credible" third-hand knowledge that verifies --with nearly FIVE PERCENT certainty that these claims are legitimate. Whan asked about the remaining 95% error margin, he simply shrugged and said, "dark matter."

NDT is a VIP & fan of TOS, but has he ID’d GJ’s P1, P2 & the No.5 for HA?

I am not third hand as I am not making any assertions to the definitive. It would seem as though you and Jintosh are.
I merely offered one plausible explanation for why GJ would assert it is genuine contrary to any screen match verification, a possible 2nd invoice or other written proof a 5th hero was ordered.

You and Jintosh seem steadfast in making the absolute statement no such proof exists. Your anecdotal teapot not withstanding, you've offered zero proof GJ or Heritage are not in possession of written proof. While it is unlikely they have any, as one would expect such proof to accompany the auction, it doesn't negate the possibility the seller wanted it not to be revealed, perhaps it will be sold under separate auction?

I am open to both possibilities (it exists and it does not) while you seem closed to the aforementioned.
1: You have built a straw man. I haven't made any definitive statement regarding the possibility of evidence existing. You are misrepresenting my position on that topic since I haven't given one. I only pointed out that jintosh seemed to be using the term knows in the colloquial sense.

2: I didn't offer an anecdote, it was an analogy and an apt analogy as well.

3: After building a straw man you shift the burden of proof and demand the straw man prove a negative.

See there, that one is a fake too.

Notice where the dilithium crystal is located, on the wrong side!

Okay, that is my SHOCKED face. 25,000 views ?!!?!
I was discussing academia, what is an expert ? WHY is he an expert ? Under what conditions is an expert fallible ?
I thought this was a much smaller audience than it turned out to be. Seriously. But, then some people would have come, and gone, so 25,000 doesn't mean that that many are still reading this message.

For the record, the Wand Company Tricorder thread—which began just shy of a full year ago—still has fewer views than this thread has gotten in only a few weeks. So, yeah, people are watching. This is the RPF, world-renowned hub of all things prop-related. There’s a big audience, here, as these things go.

:) As previously noted in another part of this site, I had mentioned that I am transgender. What hasn't been mentioned is that I also have what used to be called Aspergers. Now, highly functional ASD or somesuch. I have some blind-spots that a non-ASD person wouldn't have. Since I didn't actually see that many people posting, it simply did not occur to me that 25,000 people had seen this, in that short amount of time.

I’ve seen much worse, friend. You’re doing fine!

In a world that claims to value thinking differently, people sure do have a tough time actually respecting those who do… Anyway, you have mine.

Oh. Then I still don't understand it. Surely, one person could not simply keep viewing the thread 25,000 times ?

How is it figured ?
Any time someone opens the thread it counts as one view. If you have viewed it say 20 times, that's 20 views. I view it every time I get a new post notification, which has been several hundred by now.

Okay, so some people opened the thread ONCE, and read all the messages straight through. And some (me included then) may have a hundred views or more total. Got it. The count can go up with a large number of people, or a smaller number of people that are more actively reading.

That’s part of why this thread has been so much fun. I enjoy the research and the discussion with people who have different viewpoints. I have no personal stake in the outcome of this auction, although I’m always a strong proponent of truth and justice. I would rather not see a forgery become enshrined by the community, but, on the other hand, the potential existence of another surviving hero phaser is very exciting.

If you’re coming here to be a keyboard warrior and frothing at the mouth as you do so, you’re probably going about this all wrong. Me, I’m having a great time discussing all of the minutiae.
