All things Tron Legacy

Just saw a review of the Legacy 5-disc edition with Identity disc case.

I'm cancelling my pre-order because the case is not 1:1 scale to an identity disc. It's a lot smaller.

Just an FYI to anyone who may have thought the same as me on it.

:lol....they wouldnt make much profit if all the disks were 1:1.....it would definitely be more expensive

Yeah well for $72+ I would hope that was part of why it was so expensive.

$50 I'd say ok to justifying the cost with it being 5 discs (2 movies, multiple versions and a digital copy).

If there was a two-movie set that didn't come with the disc, I'd probably go that route, but the disk is really only twenty bucks more than buying the two separately.

Got a link for that review? Hadn't seen it yet.

I cancelled my pre-order for the ID disc case too. It looked too cheesy with the sticker. I instead got the set that has Blu Ray, Blu Ray 3D, DVD and Digital. Like half the price of the ID disc.

But it doesn't come with the first movie ...

You can get the first film without having to buy the ID disc version. I think that's the one he was referring to anyway.. I don't recall a 4-disc version, but I know there's a 5-disc that includes the original film.

I'm still iffy about the original.. there have been plenty of reviews of Legacy, but it seems like they're hesitant to send out review copies of the first film.. not a good sign. I don't think it's going to be the amazing experience that people are hoping for, and I'm still wondering whether it will look any better than the DVD, which I already have.

I have been a devoted TRON fan for most of my life. I finally caught the sequel in a second run theater in 3D even and, well, man, I didn't hate it, but it really felt like it was missing everything they put into The Next Day. The corporate espionage angle, the idea of a giant looming oppressive corporation was entirely gone.

The Next Day should have been the end of the feature film. I would have walked out of the movie grinning ear to ear.

I enjoyed Legacy, thought the 3D was used well and it felt right for the world of TRON. I also would have enjoyed seeing more of the grid, more games, some more of the next gen recognizers, and I was hoping for a tank battle!

I thought the character of Flynn was pretty much wasted and just downplayed in the writing too much. Tron was totally wasted.

I love the idea in The Next Day that Flynn was calling Alan Tron after the first film. That's just flat out cool.

Here's a link to the PQ reviews of it and such:
TRON: Legacy Blu-ray

Very rare high technical ratings:
Video Quality: 5/5
Audio Rating: 5/5

Here's the video overview of the 5-disc identity disc case:

I don't know what constitutes the FULL experience. I just want the regular Blu-Ray with all special features of the 1st and second movie. Don't want the 3D, don't want the DVD, don't care much for the digital copy.

Also I really don't like the stacked disc approach. Can't stand that type of packaging.

Though my google-fu is very strong, it seems that I can't find the proper source of these banners (looking for badass Quorra of course):

Anyone an idea or a better source for a larger version?

Well, I got Cindy Morgan's autograph from MegaCon. I told her I saw the Flynn Lives ARG's San Francisco video. I asked her about the rumor I heard about her, Bruce and Dan signing contracts with Disney for Part 3. She said that she heard the same thing, but it was hard to determine where her character would be now, as the continuity of the "Tron" timeline has changed throughout the games, comics and ARG (and she gave me the Facebook page for "Yori Lives" on the back of the photo she signed). Of course, I told her that Disney should not only bring Lora back for the next film, but have some form of Ma3a involved too. She actually told me that she recorded the dialogue in New York (describing the experience of it a bit). It was great meeting her and talking with her about "Tron" (she had an old portable "Tron" game sitting on her table too).

The other Tron 3 teaser has popped up on YouTube.

I have a feeling this is going to be epic.

Based on what I've read, the 3D BR, BR, and DVD all have the same extras. But there a set that gives you Tron on BR, which has bonus features not on the old DVD release. One review said that it was as good as Tron is ever going to look without changing things.

MCP was sorely missing in Legacy.
It was almost like if Empire Strikes Back didn't have Darth Vader.
Well maybe not that bad.

Bring that sucka back!

We shall make popcorn necklaces for him.

Finally saw Legacy last weekend. Sorry, but I thought it was pretty bad. Nice eye candy, to be sure. But where was the story?? After all these years, that's the best they can come up with?
