Aliens Sentry Gun question

Hey! We are 99% done with the Smartgun, many pics to come soon! Our next project is the Sentry Gun, my question is...does anyone know what the screen used one was made of? We are doing a working airsoft version and using high impact plastic sheets and I have been considering aluminum.

The inner mechanism was an MG42...same as the smartguns. The rest was just dressing.

I would assume metal, but I don't think I've ever read if anyone knows. Come over to the Aliens Legacy forum, there's currently two people with sentry gun threads.
