Aliens M-40 Grenade box.

I was wondering if anyone could post info on the box they used to hold the Grenades, for the M-40 Pulse rifle, in Aliens. (the little box, that holds like 25 grenades. )

I'm looking for brand, make, model. etc.

I know there are replicas out there right now, but I'm looking to find out what the original one was made of. Not what there is out there right now, that may look close.

I know the one on ebay right now (I think it's spatcaves) is not 100% accurate, because that comply, only started using that style of hinge in recent years. (though that doesn't mean that an older model wasn't what they used in the movie, that's why I'm posting this thread, to find out what they DID use.)

Ok, I'm hearing that the Grenade boxes in the movie were made by MTM, and the accurate boxes, were there old style, that they don't really make much of anymore. (since they moved to a new hinge.)

Can someone PLEASE confirm this? (screen caps, or some kind of proof would be nice too, if possible.)

Also, does anyone have any tricks, or tips for making the graphics/leters that go on the box? (i.e. stencils, decals. stickers, etc.) And/or, does anyone have a copy of the graphics/Text, that they can post here. (if not I can make my own, I was just looking to save some time. :) )

IIRC the originals where Red that where painted green, Harry Harris will know.

The current green ones are MTM Case-Gard Cat# S25-12
12 Gauge & 3" mag

That "sounds" about right. Aside from the newer plastic colours that MTM has decided to phase into, they've also made improvements to the hinge design. It is now a two part component as opposed to a single piece of plastic with the intent to flex indefinitely. Also, the placement of the "factory" logo has been modified. There are a lot of fan made pieces out there that seem to like to idealize the prop and remove the original MTM logo and produce a much more "polished" piece. The original logos could still be seen from the screen used display box. I like either version but have to remind myself, "screen accuracy" involves about three seconds of actual film time. Gotta wonder how much labor a low budget film put into that particular prop. ;)

Here's a pic of one of my latest versions:

I may have a few remaining stencil sets if that would help to save some time. :)

That is FANTASTIC. I had hoped that it was an actually an old MTM box, like I had seen on other sites. :)

MTMs only factory, is in...... Ohio. Were do I live........ OHIO. :) Who else live in Ohio.........My girlfriend. Were does she work......... You guessed it MTM. :) To day is my Birthday, and for my birthday, she just gave me an old style, red, MTM, box, for 25 shotgun shells. (i.e., the aliens prop. :) ) Very cool, I must say. :) (she also gave me one of the new style, just incase I liked it better.)
