Alien Romulus Pulse Rifle?

It's a strobe LED that plugs into the barrel for firing scenes, and activates when she pulls the trigger. They take it out of the barrel for non firing scenes. They're super common.

Anyone else have this reaction to the new Romulus trailer? Did a little comparison of what struck me. I dont know if its a good or bad thing (probably good?!), as long as they didnt cut and paste the generic slasher movie script from Prometheus. They are either trying to nod to the 'good' Alien movies or trying not to take any more risks. (I know some things should be the same like acid eating through stuff, but the composition of the scenes is what im referring to.) Either way it looks very Alien'y so thats great!

In the 3D prints the shroud "handle"(?) looks too narrow to hold the weapon, especially if the user is wearing gloves.

I wonder exactly what it looks like when the movie comes out.

A theory I have is that designers on Romulus looked at the two main weapons used in Aliens (M41A Pulse Rifle and the M56 Smartgun) and took the most defining characteristics of both and interpreted them in this new design. The gripping handle/shroud and snub nose of the M41A and the loose wires of the M56 in that wire that runs along this new design.

I noticed the same when I saw the trailer and thought it was a bad thing. Subtle homages, callbacks, and references in a sequel are one thing, but my gut reaction was that this bordered on a remake or (even worse) outright copying of more successful movies. It was the same reaction I had when they released the first still of a male character showing a female character how to use a rifle, which was almost exactly like the scene with Ripley and Hicks in Aliens.

Hi Everybody !

Just to let you know that I'm almost done working on my 3D printable version.

The prototype looks good.
Parts fits well. I'm making hollow part to fit a flash light, a LED counter
I've also made a detachable cover for the buttstock, as I guess it is right there :

But for now, I'm just wondering what base color to use.... any idea ?

Can't wait to see the real thing in action on the big screen !!

Someone making the trailer said "Let's give those people on RPF a hand!" They were most generous! ...and we finally see the mystical left side! I'm also perplexed by the back plate thingie. Is it so in zero G and your firing the recoil doesn't make it fly away from you? Or you can put the muzzle on the ground and you have a comfy camp chair! I like a good fold'y out bit so not complaining. I feel it's an inordinate amount of screen time in the trailer focused on it too. Like the production company said "What do Alien's fans like?" "Umm Aliens!" "Yeah yeah what else.." "OH! That gun! They ***ckin love that damn gun" "Right! Show'em the new one! They will come see the movie if its got a new one they can all make". Worked for me at least!
