Alien: Isolation - Crew Member Costume

Hi all,

I've been inspired to share my progress in assembling an Alien: Isolation inspired costume. There are some fantastic costumes and props being put together by members of the RPF. A:I has really caught my imagination, and while I've always been a fan of the franchise, it's really fired me up to get building!

wetcelery's thread is particularly cool: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=242694&highlight=alien+isolation

I decided that the costume wouldn't be a direct replica of any specific character, more something that matches the "blue collar" vibe that is present in Callum Alexander Watt's concept art:

As the parts are bought, found or built by me, I decided to embrace the scavenged feel, figuring that it matched the backstory of survivors, hiding out somewhere in Sevastopol.

This is just me messing around with my camera...

Bought/Found:

Nomex Flight Suit (US?)
Nike Hi-Tops
Baseball Cap
Vest
Nostromo Patches
UK Territories Patch
Casio Watch
nitestik Keyring

Made my me:

Crowbar
Headset
Seegson ID

I'd like to swap out the baseball cap for a Weyland Yutani trucker cap at some point. I'm also in the process of building a small hand-held terminal with some old keyboard buttons.

On top of that I'd like to model a rubber back for my Casio watch. I have skinny wrists, so will be keeping it as a single watch face!

Oh blast! Thanks for pointing out the error. Must get my needle and thread back out :D

The graphics are brilliant, I'll keep it in mind as I go on.

Nice one Pocko! Any chance you'd be able to show us how you made the headset? I'd love to make one for myself but I'm not sure how to go about it... Also, you've now got me thinking of making an AI inspired one too...! And big thanks for the mention - I'm honoured!

Nice work.

I like seeing personalized Alien inspired outfits instead of exact copies of movie characters.
Really, how many Ripley's, Dallas', Kane's, etc can there be.

Hey wetcelery, it was a pretty straightforward build:

I think it could be streamlined if the circuit could be made smaller. I wanted to have a dummy camera mounted on there, but it was getting a bit crowded with such a large box for the circuit.

Thanks division 6, the hard work and skill that go into replicating existing costumes is staggering, but for me the test is to make something that fits the aesthetic in a sort of "expanded universe" sort of way. It's how I approach all my costuming interests, Hellboy/BPRD, Harry Potter etc.

That's a great idea, I never would have thought of those for round lenses!

I was considering using a lens from a camera viewfinder for a square housing.

A headset redesign might be my next project :D

Oh fab! Subscribed so I can reference it later. So glad that you've posted WIP and close up shots - I love the decals and the orange/grey combination, beautiful work!

Thanks. I love making decals!

The WIP pictures are fairly self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them :)
