Alien derelict vessel question?

I know the original Nostromo model has been salvaged and restored to its former glory from a thread in one of the other sections , but does anyone have any info on the whereabouts of the Alien DERELICT model? :confused

It's really sad to think how some of these iconic pieces have been treated. The condition of the space station from 2001 is pitiful...

I'm surprised it was just dumped. I thought Kubric smashed everything so it could not be reused in cheap movies.

And why should they? They served their purpose and storing them costs money, so there's no reason for them to keep their old props, sets, and models unless they can be reused. It really isn't until relatively recently and the rise of eBay and the internet that the studios have realized that all of these old props and costumes are practically worth their weight in gold to collectors like us.

Actually, I believe the way the story goes is that it was put in a storage unit. The unit was forgotten about and the contents sold.
