Alien 1979 1:3

Why is it posed bent over like that?

Dropped a penny?

Ridley and the design team had an idea to play down the "man in suit" aspect by depicting the alien in unusual poses "crawling like a crab", "standing on one finger"... They explored this idea in a cut scene where Lambert is confronted by the alien and it's on all fours like a backwards crab walk

Why is it posed bent over like that?

Dropped a penny?
It's an homage to this production photo (which is the very last page of The Book of ALIEN by Paul Scanlon and Michael Gross)
