We saw it last night. Once you get past Will Smith as the Genie, it was a good movie. I liked the twist where Will Smith was telling his kids the Aladdin’s Lamp fairytale and it turned out he was telling them his story. I agree Jafar wasn’t menacing enough. His voice was just too soft. Casting for Aladdin and Jasmine we’re perfect. They sounded exactly like the animated characters, especially when singing (if that was them singing). Abu and Lago were done well and the flying carpet effects looked great.

Jaffar is mor villainous in this one. Conniving, more purpose driven.

The weakest thing for me was Jafar. He just wasn’t as menacing as the animated version.

I would say the cartoon is still better. As I was watching the live action version I would find myself wishing they did this part or that part of the cartoon.
