Airwolf Bodies for those Micro R/C Helis?

Gone but not forgotten.
I can't believe there's nothing like this out there yet! I've been digging around tonight and seen people adapting card models and just repainting their existing fuselages, but no true conversion kits yet.

I'm thinking someone could take one of the old AMT/ERTL kits, mold it, pull a casting, shrink it down to size, mold it again, and make hi detail bodies by just brushing in one coat of resin to capture all the detail, then filling it in with polyfoam. (that's over simplified, but you get the idea.)

I'm jazzed on Airwolf right now- I just picked up season 1 last week, and the giftshop at the local truckstop just marked down their micro helis to 9.99 :D

uh, your not looking in the right place then. Have you actually tried using a search engine?? There are a bunch of sites that have airwolf bodies for all sized r/c heli. Type in r/c airwolf body or r/c airwolf shell, youll get some hits.

Ah, but it's a telling thing then. I looked all last night for a body for this little heli and there doesn't appear to be anything out there. There's plenty of airwolf bodies out there, but none in this scale. The model makers out there apparently haven't thought of this option so far, so it looks like it's up to us. Like I said, there's been people who've experimented with the available card models, and repainting the heli's existing bodies, but no real conversion kits. Please post links to kits if you know otherwise.

what type of r/c heli is it, what brand/what scale? Ive seen them in all sizes, from real small to the really huge scale heli. :) If its some offbrand micro heli, youll probably will have to try and find a a scale model of one, and vacuum form over it to keep the shell light on the micro heli.

I don't know about an airwolf shell, but does anyone know of a decent, reliable, micro heli? I had one that worked for all of 10 minutes before it went haywire. It wouldn't hold a charge and wouldn't get more than an inch off the ground after that first time.

Not me I have have tried 2 Havocs and a Micro Bell and neither lasted more than a few hours before something was broken or defective...

OK well it depends on how micro you want to go! I have an Esky Lama xtreme v3, which is a killer co axial helo.
Flys awesome and no traits at all so far, you can pick up a Lama V3 pretty cheap, though i added the full Xtreme sport kit to mine.
I have seen a 'wolf body in polycarb for my helo, and there is a guy who does a Super Cobra, Blue Thunder and Apache i think, leave it with me and ill try find the link, there around the 16" mark on the bodies.
You can get larger bodies for things like the Esky honeybee and Belt CP, but then you have to have the skills to fly them, and trust me, its not easy, and certainly not cheap lol.
Ill try get back soon fellas!

Not sure there- I'm really new to r/c stuff. I was just thinking something cheap and readily available like a Picooz. I'll have to check what make the ones on sale at the truck stop are.

Firefox31 sent me some links last night via IM, but I didn't save them because I thought he posted them here too. :$

One of them was a German site with an Airwolf that looked really good- it was a vacuform body complete with panel lines and rivet detail. The only downside was that it was even smaller than the stock pico body and the battery pack stuck out the bottom of the nose. :unsure

Also, I "think" Firefox31 might be making VF Airwolf bodies eventually. Before I crashed last night, he was talking about having a buddy 3D print a scale buck... :love

Cross your fingers!

I just posted this same link in another thread. Does it help?
Bar.

Much appreciated, but the ones I'm thinking of are really tiny- around 6" long.

The one I picked up tonight seems to be a Hong Kong look-alike PicoOz

Thanks again though! :):thumbsup

well if you have one like that, u really want to keep it light, ive had that one before, its not so good. One of the best mini r/c heli is the bladerunner 2. It has the full functions of bigger size r/c heli including reverse. THat one runs about 60. Then there is one like the picco, but full function and flies extremely well but runs several hundreds of dollars. So if you have one like that, i wouldnt waste the time into it cept for some hopups you can do. You need to go bigger scale to get into a airwolf body on a heli, and thats after hours and hours of practicing with it before you would put the airwolf shell on, becuase i guarantee youll crash your heli a few times when you learn to fly it.

Ok, I've been "flying" this thing around for awhile, and Boy, these things could put Hoover out of business when it comes to getting hair and lint out of a carpet...

The tail rotor is especially good at it. :cry

I have a couple of the picoo Z's and there fantastic. Like i said, i moved up to a Lama V3 xtreme, very nice heli as it goes, flys great indoor and out.
The Link bar posted up, that shell would fit the Lama sure, it would add a bit of weight, but uprated motors and a better Lipo would cure that.

Heres one fitted to a BCX2, same size as a Lama, as it goes the BCX2 is more popular in the US and not very expensive, very easy to fly too!

I used a model of a 1/35 Huey on mine. (directly the styrene parts, I did plan to vacform it, but didnt find the time so I just cut the fuselage to fit the mechanic :p). The flight is just a bit shorter, but it works very well. I have to paint it now ! :D

Wow! That'd be one heck of a conversion! :eek
