Airsoft M16 question

I'm looking to get an older M16 Airsoft gun simply for replica/costuming purposes. Does not need to be operable. After some searching, I see plenty of them on ebay for under $10!? They claim to be high quality, 1/1 size... can this be legit? Are these things really that cheap in price? If they look and feel like a real gun, I'll jump on it. But if they garbage, I'll gladly wait and pay more for a nicer replica weapon.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah garbage. If you're not using it for shooting, then it might work. I have lots of those just for display purposes. There's the crossman soft air ones that are quite good too. (With the clear receivers), sold usually at Wal-Mart or something. Just watch the shipping prices. Usually there is the auctions for 22 different guns, but shipping is $196.00...
You can tell they are plastic when you pick them up. I'll grab some pics soon.

I bought a "1:1" cheapie electric one for $15 at a show...turns out it's at least 10% smaller than the real deal!

Thanks... I figured as much.
I did some more research and found that the Soft Air DPMS Panther M16 A-1 looks like what I need. Quality product, looks real, feels real and even shoots BBs if I want to get into that.

I bought a WELL brand AR-15/M-16A2 to do a Billy "Predator" style rifle. It's easily one of the nicest spring rifles I've ever seen, and it was $16. It's sturdy, heavy, and shoots very nicely. Really accurate too. Since then I've purchased a few WELL brand guns and have been insanely happy with them.

You can look up "well airsoft" on ebay and find what I bought very easily.

Stay away from Cyma, Double Eagle, stuff like that.

Go to red-alliance.com.They are mainly Russian airsoft but they have info on the oldM16A1s there and check the web for sites that deal in AEGs Or Springers Theny have some pretty good stuff at good prices.Hope this helps.

Well, he said he just wants it for replica/costuming. Those brands should be just fine for that. He doesn't need the bestest of the bestest of airsoft performance. ;)

Anyway, there might be some cheap springers that are not undersized but you'd have to be able to see them in person before you buy to be sure.

wells brand is cheap, (mine broke after a firing a about 7 shots)

But after using auto primer and flat black, and then dressing it up with real parts, it looked real.

i filled the grip and stock with steel bearings. The Mag clip and extra mag are real, along with the m14 flash supressor.

I believe it came with the little picatinny mounted laster and light.

It is a cheap, creaky replica, that can be made to look real, just don't expect to skirmish with it.

For Cheap Airsoft, i generally go to shortyusa.com

hope this helps
