Advice requested-MR Enterprise

Hi folks. I just wanted to ask you all if I should pick up the MR Enterprise? I know there were a lot of quality control issues and many unhappy returns in the first production run. Am I correct in thinking there has been a more recent run, is it legitimate, and if so does anyone know if the problems have been fixed? MR website seems defunct now, so I can't ask them anything. I've seen the LE for about $900 and would like to know if it's worth the plunge!

Thanks for all your help! :confused

I love mine, it is great. Sure it has some issues, but nothing so far that can't be fixed. With Round 2 promising a 1/350 kit in the next couple years, there may be alternatives.

I'd love to know if MR changed vendors to complete the run, or if there is any difference in quality with the new batch.

Last I spoke with Stephen at Redfordfilms, it is expected to ship in a week or two. Master Replicas, on their Twitter page, said "Enterprises are on their way. We'll be sending out an e-mail shortly." That was dated June 17.

Quite frankly I LOVE mine. One of the best purchases I've made. It makes me happy everytime I see it. Go for it! You'll be glad you did.

Disclaimer: I did send the first one back because of the heavy grids on the top but the second one is great (not to mention they sent a signature edition instead of the LE that I ordered :lol)

Hopefully some detailed pictures from the second batch get online.

Would be happy to get a better one and sell off the old one.

Got mine when they first came out. Love it! :cool:thumbsup

And this is from somebody who was a very angry Unobtainium customer, so I had been waiting quite a long time for satisfaction. :lol

I just got mine today and I LOVE IT! I think this is from the 2nd run because the cool starfleet symbol base that the E sits is just black. No gold trim or gold anywhere on the base for that matter. I got #879 of 1250. I haven't been able to go over the E with a fine tooth comb yet but from all looks of it, there are no paint runs or glue drips on it. The lighting all works and the lights turn inside the engines and make that noise that everybody was talking about. I don't see any imperfections yet, but if yoy guys tell me what to look for, I will take pics and try to spot things that might have changed.

The black stand was just for the standard E. Signature editions got the gold trim.

Things to look for....

Gap between impluse drive and saucer

shabbily drilled holes for the three lights on the secondary hull top

slightly sagging saucer out of alignment with centerline of warp engines (I think most had this)

poorly masked landing lights below hanger bay

unstraight red stripes on top of secondary hull

too dark heavily drawn "grid" lines on saucer bottom or top

Uneven clear coat, "blotching" on saucer in the right lighting this stands out

blotching on inside of warp domes, this may happen much later

Decals used where the printed markings got screwed up

poorly drawn gridlines or evidence of erasure and corrections

Gaps where engine pylons meet the secondary hull.

That is just off the top of my head,

I am sure I am forgetting some.

Detailed closeup pics appreciated of course, very curious if they finally got the QC issues solved.

I have one from the first run - overall its a good replica but its does have a coupel of issues. the largest being that one of the nacelles stopped spining... the other being a filler issue around the the shuttle bay doors. there's a gap there that presents an obvious light leak...

one of the nacelles stopped spining..

:eek Ouch. That really stinks. You couldn't get it replaced under the warranty?

How prevalent was this? Is it as widespread as the MR Falcon headlights going out? I was one of the Falcon owners who lost a headlight, and I'd rather not have a defective Enterprise too.

Try vibrating that nacelle motor externally to work it loose.
Pad the nacelle so you do not scratch it and hold something that vibrates against it. Cycle the power while you do this.

Maybe an electric tooth brush or cell phone set on vibrate would do the trick.

Congrats on your new arrival!! Glad you are happy with it and hope it's as close to perfect as can be expected. Looking forward to seeing pics. Still hovering myself.....

I tried this several times... I have a hand held messager thing with 4 "feet" that all vibrate... No Joy...

It is fairly common... don't know if they addressed it in the second run but I kinda doubt it...

can someone please describe the power plug to me, I moved and all my stuff got confused/mixed up, I have like 3 power transformers and dont want to blow anything up with the wrong one, any markings or distinguishing marks would help

It's a 9 volt transformer (and the plug should fit :lol) Look on the prong side of the transformer and it will say the voltage.

The one I have has some sort of issue with the connection between the ship and the base. It will stay on for a little while and then it shuts off and I need to lift it off and re-seat it :confused. I think the problem is in the connection in the ship with no way to get too it. Also my nacelles have the oil in the frosting issues.

I am a Trek fan and like the model but it has been a huge quality disappointment for the price. :angry
