Advice on Lion-O costume pieces

Hey guys-

I've been lurking for quite a while and you have really put together some amazing stuff one here. The Iron Man suits are just.... insane.

Anyways, I'm putting together my Halloween costume this year, and I want to go as Lion-O from the Thundercats. I think I have most of it figured out - the two sticking points I have are the cat glove/scabbard and the sword. I'd like to make both.

I've found a bunch of cosplay Lion-O pics on the net and it seems most people have just made a fur glove, but in the cartoon it was more of a golden metal. As far as the sword - well, any advice on how to make the sword would really be appreciated.

Oh, and advice on painting my skin orange so that it doesn't rub off on people all night would be cool too.

Here's the wig and contacts I've found. I friend is going to help me sew the outfit from scratch.

I figure I'll cut some of the hair out of in front of the eyes, but it has that side-swoop effect of Lion-O's hair.

And while I'm here, this is the Aquaman that I did for Halloween last year.

Yes, already PM'ed him on the sword - it's still not done. Push comes to shove, there are 50-60 dollar replicas. It's that damned glove I need help with.

Are you wanting to do this cheap and quick? I'd suggest making the glove out of craft foam and painting it the color you want and maybe leaving it attached to your side like in the cartoon.

Anything else will probably be a long and involved process that won't be completed in time for Halloween.

Alright, I'll look into that... appreciate the idea.

It looks like there are lots of cosplay folks (from my quick google search) who have used a fauxfur cloth to make a glove and then added claws and gems to it. Some even look padded to give out of proportion look the glove/shield had in the toons.

Right, I did the same search and saw all the same cosplay gloves. But as I said in my original post, I'm trying to go away from that since it's not accurate to the cartoon. Easier to accomplish, but less accurate. And new territory for me as far as costume making goes.
