Advice following fan universe creations rip off

Hi guys. I was one of the unlucky ones to fall foul of fan universe creations. I originally ordered a bunch of dark knight stuff which I ended up waiting almost a year for and only got most of it when I managed to find their details on here and threaten legal action.

Anyway long story short, the items I got from them were nowhere near the quality advertised and paid for. The biggest let down was the gauntlets as they had the potential to be great but what I got was super thin rubber that literally tore in half the first time I tried them on. The fins all snapped off too leaving them an unusable mess. .

I was able to get one of cool funk curleys capes and another cowl so I decided to cut my losses on the cape and cowl but I really liked the potential of the gauntlets and wanted to try and salvage something from the wrecks I have left which is where I need advice.

Ive read up a ton on here and think I can use the torn gauntlets as the basis to make a new mould, perfecting all the errors and repairing the damage as well as improving the design so it doesn't rip and has a better fastening mechanism. I emailed fan universe creations and told them I'm doing this as they basically ripped me off of several hundred pounds but no surprise they ignored me again. If this works I may even be able to do a small run.

So so my question is this. Given the amount of restoration and repairs I'll have to do, and basically create all new fins as they're all broken now, would this be considered recasting? I'd hope not given how much I need to do, the fact that I've told them I'm doing this, and the fact that they've offered no solution and have run off with a lot of people's money. But at the same time I'm not sure.

Thoughts?

Still is considered recasting. Molding a set for yourself, that's your personal business. But as soon as you say your going to do a run that makes it "recasting" in the wrong type of way.

Cool no worries, I was hoping to help some of the others who never got their gauntlets and cover the cost of the materials but if I do it I'll just do it for my own set. Far too busy with work at the mo anyway so doubt it'll happen anytime soon but wanted to check if it was ok to do, thanks for the advice :)
