Looks great! As you know I've been craving these little grey numeric details on my GK saddle for years. Not sure if I can bring myself to do this scope for a FIFTH time, though . Might I ask ... why the silver paint underneath unless you plan to weather it a bit more?

Also, I have a plethora of the proper brass screws for these, if you'd like some!

thanks Pedro i appreciate that. I’ve thought about it but honestly I cant afford a mfj printer and the resin prints are not that expensive all things considering to outsource. Plus it’s one less thing to worry about

The silver paint u can actually ask Bradberry00. He has a real scope Compac and helped me with that detail. It’s apparently just engraved into the saddle taking the black paint off (if I followed correctly) leaving the silver (y)

This was a fun build. For a left handed scoundrel..

I am looking to get a vinyl cutter to create stencils for blaster props that I build. Ive noticed that a lot of people use them for lightsabers, blasters.. pretty much everything really. I was curious to hear some suggestions on whats a good place to start. Silhouette cameo or Cricut Explore Air 2 (&or maker) are two that I have been lookin into. Anyone have any experience with these or have a suggestion on what to use to create some vinyl sticker templates? Looking for some advice or suggestions. Much appreciated.

I know we have more options to spend money on upgrading parts for these builds more than ever but here is some tricks one can do to improve the denix as is with the wood grips that actually come with the denix itself using these screws from midwayUSA..

First using a dremel I shave away at the denix itself. Adding the details that it laks. It’s take a little time and patience but an accurate c96 is definitely in there to found..

Next is the grips. You have to shave away again with dremel the tip on the top front and reshape the “circle” line at the top so it will line up with the new mods on the denix itself..

Now just redrill the hole with a drill bit that opens the hole up to take the new screw from Midway (I believe I used a 1/4-20 but I’ll have to double check)..

After this you should be good to go. I personally epoxy pennies inside the grips to help keep them snug and in place but it’s not fully needed. I can show that as well if desired though. Regardless this is how it “should” look when it’s all said and done. I think the results speak for themselves as well don’t you?

For this denix I should mentioned that I did modify the top as well so that it’s slid forward. I will also sub in my trigger and hammer as well. Each of these mods do help tremendously in transferring the denix into a more accurate representation of the base Mauser seen for both the ANH Hero and ESB Bespin blasters.

Nothing is perfect obviously but it definitely does helps I think..

I have an older Silhouette, picked it from from a gal at work (only $60! She’s always buying new craft gadgets). I’ve used it for masks a lot of times - I did the scratches on my DL-44 with it (can dig up pics, maybe you remember?), as well as the markings on a 1/350 Enterprise and a few other things. It can kind of cut styrene too, but not super clean. Very useful otherwise though! I’m not sure if the newer machines are that much better for this purpose.
