Adding thread for hardware saber buttons

I'm making a harware Luke ANH stunt saber for a fan film I'm working on. It's basically just going to have the grips, fins and a red button. Can someone tell me how I can thread the pipe to attach the replica graflex button? Is this even possible? Thanks,

John

If its stunt, I wouldnt bother with threading the button. i would just cold weld it. It can be done, but the hole has to be tapped and threaded.

Anybody happen to know the tap size? My goal is to hide the screw for the blade under the button. I guess I could cold weld it, but I'd like to hide the screw. :)

I used a 5/8" - 24 for the replica buttons I have from Parks sabers. Since these also fit the original handle, I assume the threads are the same. I don't think you could get away with threading the tube itself though. The original (and replica) has a raised boss on the side that allows a bit more threading. Hope this helps.
