Active screen in Mark IX/X tricorder?

Has anyone managed to install a working video screen into a Mark IX tricorder? I've seen a very cool TOS version, surely with all the mobile phones and portable media devices available this could be achieved?

Thoughts?

There's a very cool Mark VI with working screen, I forgot who made it though. However there wasn't a actual "screen" on Mark IX, so it could be harder to make it look right.

I think you're referring to Stapleton's Mark VII , he used a mp4 watch for the screen if I recall correctly.

As for the Mark IX/X, active screens for the science and medical have been done, there are a couple vids on youtube like this one:

YouTube - Mark X Tricorder Science Screen (bright)

The vids are a couple years old, so I'm pretty sure you'd be on your own for making one.

You should contact Mr. Treknut on youtube. He makes Mark X and IX tricorder with real LCD screens. But they are usually $3000 to buy
