    Well, y'know, it's not a documentary. ;)

I understand your point though. It's funny how a person could buy into the premise that Abraham Lincoln actually hunted vampires, but they get one real-world aspect wrong and suddenly the suspension of disbelief goes right out the window.

I saw a cardboard standee of this in the theater when I went to see Episode 1 in 3D and by the looks of the trailer it sounds like it'll be good. I remember this book because a friend of mine did a 7 page research paper for a college class arguing how these adaptations are wrong.

I wonder what will do better at the box office: This, or Spielberg's Lincoln.

If you take another look at the trailer you will see that the shot of the Washington Monument is from present day D.C.

In the trailer it shows him without a beard and with a beard then present day. I guess I'll just read the book

I had the same complaint and stopped it on this frame. Looks like the Lincoln memorial is there too. So it may be present day. have to see the film to see how they use the shot. Maybe zoom into the memorial and he has a steak in his hand or something like that.

In other questions, what props are people excited about from this movie?
Is "Lincoln's axe" going to be big?

I haven't been this excited about Lincoln since I discovered I could dress as Lincoln and use his gun to kill the Slavers and free the slaves in Fallout 3. I've yet to go back and kill the "vampires" dressed as Lincoln with an axe...

I'm really looking forward to this. The only thing that would make it any better is zombies.

In one scene (I may be wrong) but it looks like he fires out of his axe handle and then racks it

He's only producing it. Timur Bekmambetov is directing.

I enjoyed it. But it is your typical movie adaptation: Summarize the book in one paragraph and then fill in the gaps. I understand there are time constraints so some things had to be left out or combined together, but WTF was with the train at the end?

One of the better movies I watched this year and a fun way to learn about American history (minus the vampires part LOL)

I thought it was doubly odd that the movie was so different from the book since the author of the book (Seth Grahame-Smith) also wrote the screenplay.

I think the main problem with adapting the book directly to a screenplay was that the book didn't really have a main villain (other than vampires in general, that is). It's almost as though Smith and director Timur Bekmambetov didn't trust audiences to figure out there wasn't a "mastermind" behind all of the vampires in America. Either that, or they couldn't figure out how to have a climactic ending without a main villain for Lincoln to defeat. Regardless, on it's own the movie is just okay; compared to the book, it's complete rubbish.

It was OK for a 'mashup' type movie. The clue is pretty much in the title - 'it does what it says on the tin', but not with any notable panache or flair.

Not a great film - but it is watchable. If you like that sort of thing.

Definitely better than seeing it in the theater. I enjoyed seeing it there, but I'm to the point that I will be blown away if a movie stays true to a book.

    Finally watched this last night!!
    I didn't like it.
This is one of those moments I wish I didn't read the book. The movie might have resonated better for me if I went in without the book on my mind. It was just so different from the book.
I had high hopes for it.

This has happened to me with almost all movies of books that I have read. They are never as good, mainly because our imagination fills in blanks that the film needs to show you. Then they don't include or change things that were in the book, this happened with the last Harry Potter movie and as much as I liked it, I was also missed some of what they changed or left out.

That is why I made myself stay away from the Potter books. My wife read them all and tried to make me... But I just couldn't. I knew it would ruin the film experience.

Watched the movie two nights ago and I agree with this post 1000%. The movie was fine, but in relation to the book - absolutely stupid. The book was infinitely better.

Finally saw this movie. Pretty good one. Kinda makes me wonder what it'd be like for Abraham Lincoln, Jack Crow and Blade were to team up to go against the Twilight vampires. Probably be a quick resolution.

I finally caught this on cable the other night. Unfortunately, my suspension of disbelief was strained to the snapping point and I pretty much tuned out the rest of the movie. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the horse stampede scene.

Don't get me wrong, I love Nightwatch/Daywatch and enjoyed Wanted for what it was, but this was just a bit much, unfortunately.
