Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein - Show-off piece

By the time A&C Meet Frankenstein, Universal had scrapped the Jack Pierce method of Frankenstein make-up and went with foam appliances.

I had received in a trade a long time ago, a badly pulled latex Frankenstein head piece appliance taken from the original. It was in very bad shape with holes, thinning, etc...

Our own Tom Spina stepped up to the plate to do a restore and paint, based on descriptions of Glenn Strange's make-up (no color pics exist), and knocked this out of the park.

Well that's splendid - I love seeing pieces of this calibre, and Wampa obviously has done a wonderful restoration job on this piece.

Just great.:thumbsup

Wow! :eek A great prop from one of my favorite movies!

Now, is there any chance of a display from Abbott & Costello Meet the Invisible Man? :lol

Out of the park and off the planet.

I'm speechless. One of my all time favorite films, and I mean that sincerely--can't even count how many times I've seen it (Bela's and Chaney Jr's best performances in their signature roles--I aint kiddin'). A big congrats.

And, once again, Tom, you're an animal, man.

Todd, as I've said privately, I'm thrilled you like the work :)

Thanks for the kind words on the work guys... I'm a HUGE fan of the film as well and this casting was a very cool piece, in pretty rough shape when it arrived. Lots of holes and super-thin spots that had gone wonky.

I did what I could to patch and thicken while maintaining the look and feel. I did a subtle two color paint with a bit of a vintage feel and did my best on the hair (Frank hair ain't easy! LOL)

The black flocked display head with acrylic base really sets it off nicely and gives it the feeling of importance that it deserves.

I'm really proud of the result (and very happy to have had the chance to work on such a cool piece) :)

I've attached a few pics I had of the piece before and after the work...

thanks again Todd!
Tom
