So I'm coming to the end of my Iron patriot build and I'd ready for painting but finding the right products in the uk to paint the foam with is doing my head in!!! You guys over in America it seems have it easy with products that are easy to get hold of! I've been scouring the internet for about 3 weeks now trying to find something suitable with some flex to it that's hard wearing.

Does anyone have any suggestions of paint that's easy to get hold of here in the uk and that's not going to cause me to rob a bank to afford it???

I'm getting a bit desperate now!

I've looking into liquid rubber, plastidip (expensive and lack of colours, plastikote (lots of colours but cracks easily) liquid tape spray, flexible gloss ect ect ect but its either will it work or costs a small fortune!

Bro, use plastdip or liquid tape spray than prime over it and paint, or use the XRobots method, apply 1 or 2 coats of Smooth-Cast / Smooth-on than prime and paint.

I’m from the UK, haven't done Iron man, but managed to get a fairly smooth gloss finish on EVA Foam Mass Effect armour by sealing the foam with ordinary PVA (3 coats watered down), undercoating with 2 then coats grey acrylic primer (I found Halfords own brand worked well), sanding down after coats and then painting with rust-oleum painters touch (got from B&Q) or Humbrol spray cans (modelzone) . PVA glue and Acrylic paint both dry a bit flexible esp if you keep the coats thin. I would avoid Plastikote paints and high build primer though, I found these just made a mess and/or cracked everywhere. The finish I got will flex a little without cracking, but only a little though, but it has survived Con use. The rubberised coatings like plastidip do seem to be a better idea though, but you are right, difficult to get in the UK, and they are also rather toxic.

Thanks for the replies guys ok so I've had this arrive this morning its called car dip uk very similar to plastidip and apparently they can mix you any colour downside are three cans cost £43 :S and they over charged me on postage by nearly double! this is the ground coat so in going to try it out and see how it goes on some of my pieces

I've just found a company called liquid car wraps which seems to be a lot more reasonable price wise and postage cost I've ordered traffic blue so should be dark enough will let you know how it pans out.
