A question to all Gun fans

Uh... well... typing "Colt Single Action Army" into google leads us to the following image, among many others, so I think it's fair to say that no they clearly are not similar.

It seems to me that a lot of toy guns packaged on a card such as this is marketing the same toy gun with the impression that younger customers won't know the difference between a modern firearm to something more to a certain era. The attitude being, a toy gun is a toy gun.

I've purchased a few of these myself, modifying the grip and barrel to something more along to the '30's and '40's type of revolver.

Are you searching for a "western" gun as in cowboy-style? If so, there are tons of toy guns out there. Here's just one from a quick search. I got a ton of hits searching for toy cowboy guns.

If you want one more in line with civil war to right after, colt 1858 and 1860 replicas can be found pretty easily.

I, too, had found many sites that sell the "western" or "cowboy" guns. The problem is one has to keep in mind that many of these have been made to fit smaller hands. A good clue is looking at the trigger guard in relation to the size of the toy.

There are full sized models out there. Just be aware of what you're looking at.

The problem is finding one that ships to Brazil, and is orange enough, so I don't have any problem with customs.

This is the sort of thing that nags at me until I can find something that may work for the size of the gun and the customs issue.

The following is a review of a toy gun available on Amazon. From other sites, I've learned the overall length is 11 inches which I scaled up to print and compared to a similar western toy gun I have and it is a full sized model from what I can determin. Click on the image to get to the order page.

It's a .44 cal Ruger Redhawk not period, but not a .357. The Redhawk came out in 1979 by Sturm, Ruger & Company. With the cheezy checkered grips instead of the Rosewood or Walnut grips. (they now use rubber grips) I own one.

That gun looks a little closer to a colt. The thing to look at are cowboy style single action revolvers. That is the style they used http://www.franklingunshop.com/cowboy-western/ this site shows a gun made in 1906. The one at the top of the page. It does look similar to the one in your pic. I would however use the one in the link as a guide and then look for a toy one to match. Hope this helps.

SSgt Burtons correct, they are Colt Peacemakers, AKA Single Action Army revolvers....much better than the 1970's magnum first shown.
