A New Look for the RPF!

The original inspiration for the font came from dualedge's text treatment from years and years ago. GINO created his own take a number of years ago that I rejected and we haven't looked at since. When we came back to it, he dusted those off and he added a bit of a Microgramma / Eurostile flair which obviously adds to the SCI-FI feel to bring up to where we are today.

Art, you brought a tear to my eye. Haven't been around much (family life and shifting priorities - such is life) and I figured that stuff was ancient history at this point but you remembered! :p

Nice to see the old girl (i.e. the old text treatment) all grown up and looking distinguished and proper. Really like where you guys have gone with it and it's a nice homage to the olden days of the forum. Love the new tag line too! Can't wait to see where you guys are going to go with it!

Art, I don't know if this has been asked here, but will the new site be mobile-friendly? Browsing the current site on an iPhone is murder.

It will be... better and we will be offering our own Appp, but for the time being, we still recommend using Tapatalk.

This is sort of the wrong thread for it, but I have problems with the drop down search box when searching on an iOS mobile device and Safari. For instance, if I were to click "Search this Thread" and start to type, it'll kick me out and zoom all the way in on the RPF logo. Sometimes it'll let me type if I press on the input box, then press somewhere else and then back in, but not always...

Hold the button down and open in a new page any you won't have any problems.

Not to go back on this topic, but I actually really like the new tagline. (I thought I posted this a while ago, but I think bad service on my phone two weeks ago kept it from transmitting :lol)

Particularly because there really has never been one word we could collectively stand behind that represents the various passions we hold so dear.

"Fandom" is actually perfect. That is what we do here, we create our particular enjoyment for the movies and shows we love. Some of us build props, others make costumes, others discuss them, but each of these things tie to our own personal enjoyment and expression of that enjoyment. By crafting our fandom, we are creating the ways in which we target our passion.

"Craft" is also a great word. Its a call to action. It has the same meaning of create, but it offers that added layer of the physical action. When I see craft, I think of using our hearts, minds, but our own two hands, to create.

Anyway, that is my delayed two cents. :lol

It's an awesome logo to accessorize with as well!
