A New Look for the RPF!

You didn't like the "Put your dog in a dress" tagline from those yahoos that hate the RPF but can't stop yappin' about it?

Sad and pathetic if that is the best insult they can hurl or maybe another anatomy joke. Thus REALLY hurt... like deep and stuff. :lol

I really like the design aesthetic of this new logo. Then again I am a fan of minimalist sleek design...
The tagline however not so much. Really liked the first tagline that moviefreak came up with - 'Imagine. Dream. Create'. LOVE that! I think that captures what the RPF is all about than 'Craft Your Fandom'. Plus it meshes quite well with the minimalist design of this new corporatist logo. The old tagline of 'Colloborate. Create. Collect' would have also worked well IMO.

I admit I didn't really warm to the new logo at first but after seeing what people are doing with it, I get it.

I also like "craft your fandom"

I mulled over some variations in my head but the tag as is definitely is well suited. Fandom is sort of an awkward word but is appropriate.

I made a Jurassic Park one.

I like the new logo, and the slogan is growing on me.

Gino and I were just marveling over this a bit on the phone and it is exciting beyond words. I have consistently said this logo is a good FOUNDATION for future things, but what is happening here in this thread is super exciting because members are taking the logo (we need to set a few rules and stipulations) and are elevating it in ways that we never imagined, but that are totally awesome!

Someone asked earlier if we would have choosable themes and the answer is no, BUT I could see us having a monthly contest with a particular theme in mind, have the members submit logo treatments based on that theme, and then use the winning design for the next month in the header, so our logo is constantly changing and constantly relevant to what is going on in our world!

I don't know about for you guys, but to me, this is a super exciting time!!!

While we have VERY imaginative people and a few dreamers as well, I don't feel that "imagine" or "dream" are good descriptors for us. We see things that other dreamers and people with imagination have built and we say "I love that! I want one!" and then we create it! If this was a predominately original artwork site, I could see imagine and dream applying, but not so much for us.

While I love seeing some of these style treatments performed on the logo, it is important to note that you cannot change the geometry of the logo's stripes or RPF letters (no stretching or distorting), and you cannot adjust/change the font of the tagline.

Carry on. :)

CAN NOT or SHOULD NOT?

Gotta say though, at work I'm the brand police yelling at folks when they do something they shouldn't. Being on the other side of it is fun. :D

I notice that there is nothing about adding costumed animals to the logo in there... :lol

I'm in love with these stylings.
In my opinion they are showing the potential of what fully rendered versions of this logo could look like.
And in doing so will definitely serve to keep the logo fresh looking and relevant.
Very anxious to see what others are able to do with this logo in the future!

This discussion is interesting. It is obvious that some members here don't like change. They are like dogs; they are suspicious of any differences in their environment or routine.

I am a relatively new member, but I never liked the old logo and color choices for it. It looks "soft" and not dynamic enough for the vibrancy of this site. I have designed many logos and logotypes in the past, and my opinion is that the new logo is better than the old one. Because the old logo was not really a logotype, but artwork, it is harder to manage it in the many manifestations required. Plus, if I read Art's subtext correctly, there are some legal issues that may be bubbling that require a re-branding, so why stand in the way?

The more I experiment with the new logo, the more I like trying to find textures to overlay on it. The clean, graphical nature lends itself well to various textures as well as colors.

There are endless possibilities.
