A New Look for the RPF!

Guess I'm lacking in the nerdy geeky department cause I just ain't seeing it.
"Craft Your Fandom", I see as getting blank stares and a lot of blinking, sorry......
....but I'm shutting up now and will wait and see how everything goes together
in the complete package................

Shylaah

I was getting ready to make a rebuttal, but I think Astrokid nailed it.

To reiterate and add a little more:

"YOUR FANDOM" is very different from "fandom" alone. While I certainly understand "fandom's" dictionary definition, in the context of our tagline, your fandom is the totality of things you are a fan of.... perhaps akin to a kingdom, but instead of a king ruling over his domain, it is all things that you, the fan love and are passionate about.

Now, our tagline could be:

"Draw, build, sculpt, sew, paint, mold, cut, saw, sand, assemble, glue, and create your favorite movie, television, video game, comic book, story, myth, original idea's props, costumes and models"

or:

craft your fandom.

If you need need to see that graphically...

I absolutely LOVE the style. In armors, it could actually get away as some kind of 'decal' or 'warning'..... Might implement it on my nobell Gundam.. ;)

Nick beat me to it, but since I was already working on it, here is one at 1920X1080.

Wow, thanks Art :). You matched it perfectly with the first BTTF movie's opening title logo colors including the shiny borders. Also cool to see the tagline being included in that color.

It's endless possibilities with the new logo design. The Matrix with green codes is something I am hoping to see next sometime.

Not quite for armor, but I was toying with a more militaristic look...

The possibilities are endless.

And, Roland, that looks incredible. I tried to add the curve to mine somehow but just couldn't get it to look right. Seems you didn't have any trouble. Bravo!

Nice Roland, you went all the way :). Yet I feel it works better when the original structure of the design isn't really altered much to maintain uniformity with all new RPF logo variations, by playing around only with the colors. Still very cool though :).

If ou turn it on its side, you get ILNN. I Loath Newb Necroposts. :lol

Trust me... it wasn't lost on us that vertical orientations of the letter make for some interesting symbols. Reminds me slightly of the police helmets from the 5th Element.

I thought I'd take a moment to elaborate on the meaning behind the tagline.

'Craft your fandom' is very much a call to action.

It means to pursue the creation and/or the acquisition of the physical manifestations of your inspirations.

It also means to define/tailor the way in which you choose to express yourself within a community of those with similar interests.

It also means that through that expression/participation, you are actively taking part in shaping said community.

...but in just 3 words.

Thanks. :) But it's not perfect. Just a fast job of 10 minutes. If it was for practical use, I'd put a little more effort into it.

How about, "Pursue your inspirations" ?

How about, "Pursue your inspirations" ?

I think Art has made it clear that this is not on the table for change. I believe the tag line has been chosen and we can keep tossing our ideas at him, but it is like spitting in the wind. We may not like the tag or be sold on the logo, but is Art who has to love it. No matter what he chooses, it really won't change the place or affect the great time we have here.

This gets back to what I was talking about earlier. A tagline like that is sooo broad it could apply to anything. It could be the slogan for your bank's loan division, or your local art college. Not saying our tagline ONLY works for us, but it is VERY pointed at us.

You have a point, but keep in mind, this isn't about me loving it or not loving it (I do love it, just for the record), but it is about my belief that this is the right logo and tagline for the community. Is it the ONLY possibility? Of course not. However, I believe this does work very well, is perfect for us, and will serve this community for many years to come.

Somehow I forsee this being used in our styleguide for what not to do with the logo... LOL It is very very cool and definitely screams BTTF, but you are never likely to see a distorted version of the logo on anything official. Still, it IS cool!

How about this? :)

How about, "A Nice Place to Spend Some Time."

That's not too general, is it? :lol
