A New Look for the RPF!

As a graphic designer myself, I too am not "in love" with the logo... but it is not horrible by any means and if Art wants it as the brand image, that is cool and it will work :)

But as far as the tagline.... I agree with many. I don't like it. No offense.
There are so many better options and I think everyone on here could put their thinking caps on and vote on the best one for the job. Make it a group effort.

I will just toss two out right off the top of my head...

ok, my turn:

"Creating Reality from Movie Magic." :lol

I like the new logo. It's a little less scifi and a little more retrofuturist, which is always good for branching out and snagging new members. The slogan is a bit meh, but there's not many ways to make a slogan for a website dedicated to props.
Does moving from vb3 to vb4 affect the mobile app?

Hmmmm Really don't have a opinion...... I like both, The Old one will always be dear to me as its the first logo i ever knew & its was the logo that was attacked. As a part of the RPF RF OTB, it was that logo and symbol i stood -by during the attack. But Like Art said this is something that has been looked at and in the works for yrs now and every thing evolves. regardless of the new logo the RPF will always be the RPF :)

It's not meant to be a negative comment, but this is how I feel when looking at the logo:

1. The old logo had square border, to me it is representing a community.
The new one had 4 strips, it's like the RPF is sailing along the stream, so no sense of warm "hug" of a community (represented by round edge of the border)

2. Dropping "the", like facebook to make it cleaner? But the site is Movie Props, Costumes and Scale Models | the RPF. Will the address change in the future? Otherwise it'll be a contradiction.

3. I almost misread Fandom with something else (my bad)

4. Having too loose on the color will loose some identity too. Color is part of identity. My suggestion is too limit several color choices and/or color combination.

my 2 cents, please don't hate me for this.

Not sure what to think about new logo. Hate it on white background...a little better on grey.

It makes me want to plug in my Atari 2600 after riding my Huffy home from school.

Change is always hard, I'm sure I'll get used to it in time.

Would have much rather heard an announcement about the Prop Wiki!!!

There's a golden rule with a rebrand... "NEVER announce or solicit opinion from your user base, pre roll-out - just release it".

The noisy minority of nay-sayers will eventually go back to moaning about something else.

That said, it's good to see the majority of posts here support it. I think it works just fine. :)

Am I the only one who doesn't actually like the current logo? *ducks from people throwing empties at his head*

I like your second one. But I would use the word "create" instead of "build". "CREATE YOUR PASSION" - sounds good. :)

Good point. Truth be told, we aren't soliciting opinions... they are just being offered. It is a discussion forum after all!

It has actually been interesting to see the response here vs the response on Facebook. It is mixed as well, but with a number of people mentioning they don't care for the current logo.

Hey, it took a lot of work to come up with 5 straight lines, a right angle and 2 U-turns
in a monochromatic presentation for a replacement.....
I prefer the current logo.

Not that it influences how I will use the site,
but I view it like Chevy losing the bow-tie or Ford dropping the blue oval
for nothing but stylized block letters; blah.

Design sensibilities come and go, it is what it is.

To be fair, it contains more non-concurrent shapes than the current logo, which if you break it down like that, is a blue box with rounded corners, and font :lol ...I'm going to get shanked at this rate...
