I finished the pants today - well, the gray is still missing. But, I used up a full 10 packets of the hair. And these packages always have 2m inside that I cut up. Is that normal or do I use it too much? In some reports I read that they make the hair shorter. I have knotted a length of 30cm. I might shorten it to 20cm. But then I'll probably have to shorten the gaps. Now I have 3 holes between the rows - about 1.5cm. Maybe decrease to 1cm or even 0.5cm. Ah, that's exhausting.

It is progressing. Slowly. I lose a lot of time because I seal each knot with a drop of superglue after each row. I guess 1/3 of the time is spent on it. Plus the break to dry. But what doesn’t you do to make it work? I wrote with other Wookies. Their tips and comments encourage me and make me happy. I'm a little afraid about the amount of hair, the gaps and now because of the color, whether I can get it right so that it fits with my head.

Do you know that when you have a strange feeling about something? I have it too. I look at all the wookies how they were built. And now I look at my work. And somehow it doesn't please me that much. I am about to finish the leg and see the knotted hair. It doesn't come across so well in the pictures. When I sit in front of it, I can see the individual knots down to the 5th row. My gut tells me there are too many holes. But some others tell me it looks good, and if I look further down, I see opaque fur. Then why do I have this strange feeling? If I reach in with my fingers for a moment, I see the net and I think to myself, what if it is windy?
I am a total beginner so I like to listen to others' experiences and advice.
When I have finished the pants, I start with the top. I will shorten the hair from 30 to 20cm. Maybe I'll even reduce the distance between the rows by one hole.

You can always add more, but it’s difficult to take it away.

I would press on and if you feel the need to add more later, just add more later!

After several knots, another fitting. This time to check again whether I have staked out the areas for the gray correctly. Looks good. On the legs I want half the leg from about knee height, the side and half on the back as well. Now I notice that my top practically covers the upper part of the gray, of course I have to pay attention to that now. I can't start with brown on the top.
Mom took the pictures - she laughed the whole time, so the quality excuses.

My gray is almost the same as that of the mask. The Kanekalon gray is a little duller and more curled up. I have now knotted 2 rows of X-Pression and then 1 row of Kanekalon. But, I'll try to straighten that stuff out with a comb and hair dryer. But the brown, that's what really worries me now. The difference is really big. Can I compensate for that with mixing? I'm getting nervous now. The question arises: look for a new head, make one myself (which I can't) or do the legs again with the Kanekalon hair. Great, now I won't be able to sleep for the next few nights.

OK, change of plan. The head that I have to sell is actually a shame because it is good. Buy a new head that has the hair that I use. At first I wanted to try to replace the hair on my head that I have, but I was afraid that I would just destroy everything and then have nothing left for sale.
As a result, I no longer have to mix my gray and that's why I removed the frizzy gray hair from the last row and put mine on it.

So, even though it's really hot again today, I continued. The legs are ready. I think, because I have now tied it in such a way that I have gray hair just above the knee. What I forgot, my knees aren't the Wookie's knees. I am therefore afraid that my gray hair is too high up. Of course I can add more gray, but that will be too much and I would have to cut away a few brown ones. Let's see. At least I've tried my new band saw and it works fine. So I can tinker my feet. Is that enough or will I have to make it a little wider? At least below.

So, legs are ready. Looks like I need a little more gray. Up to my knees And where the top is, I can also add a little gray at the transition.
And maybe losing weight wouldn't be entirely wrong either.

It looks great, but I hope that you are aware that you will sweat like hell. BTW: Are you planning to attend the FedCon in October 2021?

Sweating is not an expression at all. I'm almost cooked for the rehearsal and the few pictures. I'll have to think of a small air conditioner. Attending FedCon in October 2021 would be great if I can find the time. It would be a dream of mine to be at such events with others.

I had a similar issue with the hair on my evil Chimp mask, it was also not the best finish compared to some of his others so I cut the hair off and did it myself. I also took the opportunity to add a helmet cut in half to the back to give it more shape. It wasn't as hard as you think and it then matched the colour of my suit exactly

Feet. Another Problem. In any case, to find the right measure. They should be big enough to fit the size of the Wookie and provide enough stability, but not to look like Charlie Chaplin.

It goes on. The top is now on. My mother's doll is helpful. I have to be careful that I get the part of the top where the gray is right.

I have now started the top and am wondering if I can reduce the row spacing by one. Under the arms I definitely wanted to avoid gaps when you raise your arms or something.
But how about the rest? Necessary?

I did the same all the way up, I wouldn't personally increase the gaps. In fact as I got to the top 20 cm or so I made the gaps smaller as there is less hair to cover it from above if that makes sense. I also did make it tighter on the arms, they move around a lot and show gaps. I need to dig mine out and show you some photos. I know you also wanted some of the helmet inside the mask
