OK... Well I haven't been posting progress pix of my new male and female suit builds because I've been so busy getting them finished in time for Halloween. In fact, I was still putting in the last 4 bolts on the chest armor straps at 8:00PM on Sat. night as they were walking out the door on their way to a costume contest. I didn't even have time to get the net suits done. Normally I work much faster than this, but I was in a pretty bad car accident early in the month and it really slowed me down as far as how fast I can move in my garage, getting up and down off the floor, etc...
Anyway, my girlfriend Mary's daughter and her boyfriend were going to be wearing them in a competition in Venice, CA and had to be there by 9:00 to be entered. We were so rushed that we didn't even get photos when they came up to be fitted and they forgot to grab the camera on the way out in the rush. We will be photographing them in the next couple days, so I will have some posted soon.
Anyway, here's what tweaked me. I grabbed a shower and went down to join them at the bar they were at. It was a huge turnout and they were clearly the big hit. In fact, we took the $1,000 first prize. But there were a couple complaints that they were "store bought" costumes, to which I pulled the plaintiffs aside and explained that I made them and showed them the black universal tint stains still on my hands from making dreads all day. Once that was dealt with, everyone was happy.
Then, this AM I find this: And the Winning Halloween Costums are...

"Regarding the Predator costume being “bought”… I've spent the last 8 months sculpting most of the pieces for this costume. It was sculpted, molded, cast in latex, resin or foam, depending on what piece it is, airbrushed (8 different color layers) and assembled by ME and I have the progress photos to prove it! NO, I don't work in the special FX industry. I work in the music industry, but this has been a hobby of mine for the past 5 years. Are you so narrow minded that you believe no one out there has the talent to accomplish something like this? BTW… If you know of a store where something like this can be “bought”, please share it with me, as it will save me a tremendous amount of time in the future because I'd certainly be more than happy to shop there.
Here are links to show the head from sculpt to finished product along with a couple other sculpts… Please don't just assume that everyone in the world is without talent."
Now I know that grabbing $1,000 in cash should have more than squelched my frustration at the club, but seeing this online really just PISSED ME OFF this AM... LOL We've all been down this road before, but I just needed to vent on someone who would understand...lol
Anyway, I'll be posting some decent photos in the appropriate forum in the next few days.
