A L I E N FIVE Neill Blomkamp's ALIEN movie

I didn't see this mentioned, but if it has, pardon my seeing it.

apparently this film takes place after the original aliens films
That combined with the concept art doesn't give me high hopes

1. How is Hicks alive?
2. If it's a clone, why is his face melted?

Just replying to this so the tread shows up in my "participated" list so I can follow it easier. :)

I was thinking that since this takes place years later maybe Hicks' more mangled face makeup isn't just from Aliens but he and Ripley have been getting into trouble and he keeps getting tore up. Though if Hicks is alive in this movie they could be using that weird storyline excuse for it from Colonial Marines.

They can ignore the 3rd and 4th movies totally, explain them as being dreams, have Nero come back and alter the timeline, explain that Hicks was only "mostly dead", etc. Whatever excuse they use it's going to be kind of strange, even more strange if they continue the story as it left off after part 4 and Hicks comes strolling in.

Keep in mind that this is just concept art that doesn' thave to have anything to do with the actual movie. NB was just doodling for fun initially.

I'm still not done with ACM so NO SPOILERS PLEASE. ; )

I don't know how they did it there (since I haven't gotten that far yet) but it's not hard coming up with a fairly plausible excuse if you really want to.

I just noticed something.... Neill Blomkamp wasn't even born yet when the original Alien was released! :lol

until the film gets a proper name I think I will simply call it "Neilliens" :)

I get the impression that for many fans the death of Hicks and Newt make it impossible for them to objectively look at Alien³. They wanted a movie where Ripley doesn’t die and lives happily ever after with Hicks and Newt on a space station with a white picket fence and where Bishop is rebuilt and acts as their butler/cook.

Oh hell no :p back in the day I would rather have seen Ripley, Hicks and a crap load of badass colonial marines head to the alien home world. But that would possibly be a bit of a rehash of aliens.

If Ridley Scott is indeed producing, I'm afraid we'll have both a producer AND director that are both great visual designers but not very good storytellers from a writing standpoint. There's nothing spectacular in terms of characterization or drama in Alien, beyond masterful visual handling and Prometheus was a train wreck in that respect, but also nice to look at. (And as much as I like Blade Runner, what depth is has cannot be credited in any major way to Scott.) I wonder how much of D9's charm can also be attributed to the fantastic performance of Copley. Chappie looks like it could go either way.

Which is why Cameron should be writing it! Best of both worlds and all that. But he's busy with Avatar 2, 3, 4 and Jaws 19 probably as well.

even more strange if they continue the story as it left off after part 4 and Hicks comes strolling in.

Sure, if by strange you mean impossible :p Seeing as how Resurrection takes place what? 2-300 years after ALIEN³

i saw alien when i was 13 years old on opening day, seen all the sequels since on opening day.i'm on board !! good luck to blomkamp and lets hope he scares the s**h out of us

IF they bring back Hicks and IF his face looks like that, they're gonna have a lot of people pointing out that he wasn't that badly burned by the acid! : )

I really hope ADI aren't allowed to come up with any designs for the new film. They really should just stick with the original design.

Well, technically he was. Blomkamp was born 17 Sept. 1979 in South Africa, and Alien wasn't released there until October 3rd.

Well I was talking about May 25th :p In Sweden we had, well "they" had to wait until November 2nd. I wasn't born yet :lol

Yeah and also keep in mind what the acid did to the Nostromo no to mention Hadley's Hope. Hick would be dead for sure if that much hit him.
