Can anybody help me find a good place to buy thermoplastics? Vacuumforming plastics?

Thanks

Depends on the size and quantity you need. If you only need a small piece your local hobby store should have styrene from Evergreen or Plastruct. But that can get pricey for large pieces or greater quantities.

If you need larger sheets, you may have a plastics supplier near by, check the yellow pages. High Impact Polystyrene, or HIPS, is what you're looking for. A sign shop may also have some.

If you can't find it locally try online. I've found decent prices but the shipping can kill you :lol Lately I've been ordering from ebay dealers, there are several ebay stores that sell small quantities with good shipping rates.

It seems the ones I find on ebay are 8 x 10" sheets and not anything large. US plastics is also a good source from what i have heard . I haven't ordered yet but have heard good things about them . Cutting it to your size of a former etc.

I live in St. Pete, Florida. Near me there are several places that sell plastic by the sheet. I'd think they would be found in most fair sized population areas. I wouldn't even consider buying the stuff on eBay, with the shipping charge they must require.

I recently bought a 8' x 4' sheet of Sintra for $18. Not really a vacuform plastic, but the place also sells styrene for a little more.

:thumbsupThanks guys! I think I will take a look in the yellowpages, but does anybody have any experience with clear plastic??
I need to vacuumform clear plastic.

Depends on what size sheet you need. I know hobby stores that carry RC airplane supplies have smaller clear sheets so people can make replacement canopies after doing an Alan Carter with their plane.

I need to find a place that sells Sintra here in Alabama . I'm working on some models that I could use that for. IS it a chain or just a local place.
