A Fistful of Dollars, “Joe’s Revolver”

Was watching A Fistful of Dollars recently and realized Eastwoods revolver in the first film was a different model than the later 2, and I had a Denix replica Colt that matched it almost perfectly. Its just a repaint, wish i couldve done something like brass plating the cylinder housing but it works good enough for me.

I love it. Personally I feel that the wood handles could be a little more sanded down (weathered), but that’s just me.

Oh yea definitely i havent quite finished all my little touch ups yet, want the brass to look a little more tarnished and some weathering all over but got too eager with pictures while the snake inserts were gluing up. Was thinking about even adding some more texture and detail like notches in the grips or something for the kills in the movie.

I like the look!

But I think the hammer and cylinder axle would both be blued; possibly bone blue on the hammer (rainbow effect). But not brass either way.

I have seen plenty of brass frames, so that seems plausible. (note I have not watched this movie is quite a while so could be wrong!)

Alright yall got me dead to rights not gonna lie, i saw some replicas of it with more of a brass finish which is what i went with, but rewatching For A Few Dollars More also proves it really is not brass so i went and sanded it off. Its now a lighter gunmetal ish tone than the cylinder and barrel and definitely looks a lot closer as well as not a tacky paint job. I dont honestly know if this metal will blue with a solution since its a Denix replica not a real gun of any sort, no idea the metal components but if anyone has experience with that i’ll give it a shot.

Edit: found a great reference picture from For a Few Dollars More and kicking myself for not watching this first before diving head in. Definitely a lot closer, and im not too upset with the grip color as it looks a tad more red in person. Also looks like the barrel is about the same shade as the frame which is interesting cause ive seen a lot of replicas with the black barrel

I would say it was a standard blued finish.

And it looks like your handspring is broken as you’re getting drag on the cylinder. The piece that holds the cylinder in place is not retracting at the right time, or some thing, and it drags on the cylinder. Happens to real revolvers too. My USFA Rodeo did the same thing and the factory repaired it and re blued the cylinder. That was a nice pistol.

Probably absolutely did not assemble it together correctly, ive taken it apart a couple times now and put it back together so im sure the springs not catching right or something, i assumed it was doing that already and i couldnt tell cause it wasnt painted but good to know! It was a cheap denix replica so there is a possibility its just like that, but i’ll probably be spending the night disassembling and reassembling listening to the cylinder like Tuco then

Classic! nicely put together. My favorite was always Pale Rider, I loved the long sleek 1858 Remington, with the changeable cylinders. I got to see a real one recently, its the one on top, its an actual 45 long colt Conversion and the bottom one is an authentic SAA, Peacemaker from 1873
