I'm in the process of making up some TD2.3 electrobinoculars but felt a bit under awed when holding them up. Unlike the blade runner version these don't actually have any optics inside them. Then I started thinking it was a shame that even if there were, the view was basically going to be the end of the garden or a close up of the inside of the workshop roof.
The plan originally was going to be just to put a print of the Endor landing pad inside, but it got out of control and I ended up fabricating a small diorama.
There seems to be a few empire scale versions around so I merged a few along with an AT-AT and scaled those down and printed them out. Made up a base with rows of 2mm holes and some very cheap trees from a model railway with some flock and ground scatter. Lighting will be with electro luminescent backlights with a tilt switch to keep it self contained. Now all i have to do is actually finish the Electrobinoculars!
