If anyone is in the area and would like to see 5-25-77, it will be shown February 16, 3:15 at the Tiff Theatre in the Toronto Teen Film Festival. Patrick Read Johnson and I will be there, hopefully others from the production can make it too.

If your still needing funding make sure you make a kickstarter, it should keep you rolling

Patrick told me that when the film is ready for distribution, Europe is part of the plan.

There is also talk for a Kickstarter fund raiser. I hope it happens soon. I've been involved with this film since 2005!

I've seen all of the ILM-centric parts and just from that, I can assuredly say that this film is pretty awesome! I am eager to throw money at a dvd release!

Reminds me of that movie Fanboys.

5-25-77 is nothing like Fanboys. Even though it has a comedy element, it is based on a true story and deals with real-life themes involving growing up, finding yourself, falling in love, going for an impossible dream, and all while dealing with being an outcast in every aspect of life. It's very heart warming. It has everything you would want in a movie. The release of the original Star Wars is just a small plot element in which the story revolves. There is much more sci-fi about it; Close Encounters, Jaws, Planet of The Apes, Space 1999, but especially 2001.

Even though it is Patrick's real-life story, most people can relate to it. When I was given the script for the first time, I kept thinking, "This might as well be about me!" I suspect there are a lot of people here that could say the same when you see it. And you will, I have no doubt.

Jason, I would love for you to see the whole movie at the theater. I have no doubt you will.

When we shot the ILM scene that I showed you, the assistant camera man was saying, "This scene is like geek porn." I said, "What's geek porn?" He said, "You know, it's when all the geeks pause the DVD on all these models." :)

Stupid question, but what actually needs to be finished? I've followed this for years, even offered to help long ago (with no reply)

Hi Lee. There are no stupid questions. Patrick's been at this a long time, and people are naturally curious as to why it is taking so long.

I've gone to lengths to explain the reason in great detail on other threads, other boards, but the short story is that he just ran out of money.

There are a few effects that need to be cleaning up. John Knoll did a lot of scenes for us, and they look spectacular. But, there are a few others that are still rough around the edges.

Much of the funds are needed for music; the score by Alan Parsons and rights to period pop songs that are heard all through the film.

That's it.

Distribution is not a problem. As I've said, there are plans for domestic and world-wide release, DVD and TV. They're just waiting for a finished film.

you should move this thread to movie discussion.... I would have missed it if it wasn't for me clicking into the studio models section for a peak around
