Well, I was interested until I saw this trailer. I was hoping for a gritty, more realistic telling of the story. Something more akin to The Last Samurai in style. This just looks like a Feudal Japanese Matrix. Pass.

Agreed - while a fantasy samurai movie in general is a cool idea, this looks to be utterly trashing the original story. From the looks of it, this has less historical accuracy than "300."

Any good sword flick is good to me!

Looks fun!

CMON guys! lighten up!

since when did we become SO picky and quit being ENTERTAINED!

Hell, his No Kamaes look good... doesn't that count for something?

If the trailer leaves you rolling your eyes and annoyed, seeing the movie ain't gonna make you feel any better about it. Besides, the trailer looks like it could be for any number of other movies that came before it. More of them same. Move along. Plus, for a movie like this, this is SUCH a great story that to reduce it to yet another effects reel rather that just tell the story is bordering on criminal.

I dunno. Since we developed standards? ;)

Seriously, though, the "Oh, come on! It looks fun!" thing really only works (for me anyway) with movies that don't seem to be taking themselves super seriously. This one seems to be taking itself quite seriously.

Yeah, to me, this just looks like an entertaining Netflixer. Not theater-worthy.

I'm a sucker for Asian themed films. Although I'm disappointed the source material was watered down to add all the CGI fantasy elements, it still looks fun.

Looks like Neo is the "One" again. Haha.

I think I'll see it on Netflix, but wow.. for a historical event, it seems to only be slightly more accurate than "Pearl Harbor" and "U-571"

Oh Man was this horrible, but comes as no surprise as it has had a lot of problems in production.

Note to Hollywood, just because you throw more money for reshoots does'nt mean it will make a better film. :rolleyes

It TANKED in Japan and it will tank here as well!

47 ronin is a classic in Japan. A story about honor and revenge which really delves into what it means to be a samurai.

This movie...well lets say its as if Hollywood made the things they carried and shot it like a Matrix Rambo film.

I was disappointed, to be sure. Not as disappointed as when I saw Man of Steel, but still disappointed.

What made me laugh is that the scenery didn't look like Japan and how the American-Japanese actors were trying to outdo the actors from Japan on their accents, Cary Tagawa in particular.

The women's costumes in this movie were atrocious. They were not kimono. The proportions were off, the fabric was wrong, and they looked weird. It seemed to me like the (white American?) costume designer spent too much research time looking at "geesha girl" and "dragon lady" costumes and didn't give a flip about any sort of historical accuracy.

The men's armor wasn't awful, though a lot of the action happened too fast for me to get a good look. At least the armor I saw was accurate enough to not be distracting.

Did they have two costume designers, or just one who punted on the two unnecessarily-shoehorned female characters?
