3D Printing from 2D Photos?

Thank you so very much! I downloaded the file, uploaded to Shapeways, and my order will be here in about a week. I'll let you know how it turns out and post photos here.

Thanks again to everyone for your help and comments. And, jintosh, your efforts were amazing and so much appreciated!

The package from Shapeways arrived today. The Lost in Space Soto Jet Gun whistle replica is fantastic! It fits into the rifle slot just as it should (maybe a few percent too small, but very close). Here are some photos. As you can see, it looks just as it should. This piece is never found with the gun, and I suspect it gets tossed out as a mystery piece since its not at all obvious that it is part of a toy gun. So, this is as close as I will probably ever get.

Thank you again, jintosh, for your assistance. I really, really appreciate it!

Awesome ! I am a bit surprised it fit reasonably well on the first try.

Now, for a favor. If you would try blowing into the mouth piece.....and see if it makes any noise at all....I doubt it will, but you never know.

And there is a technique of mixing a certain 2-part epoxy and painting it only the plastic that fills in some of the rough texture and gives you a smoother finish. (and glossy as well)
