Hey everyone I wanted to post a new thread of another Robocop suit I'll be building. This version is much different and better then the DO3D files I used back in 2016 which thread is here 3D printed Robocop suit 1987 build- COMPLETE. For the time those files were great and allowed me to build quite an awesome Robocop suit but I had to do an extreme amount of modifications and rebuilding to get it the most accurate I could and it took me around two years to complete. These files were designed by Darthasen and are much more accurate to the film to the point where I won't have to do any modifications at all other then getting it wearable and doing the body work/clean up/paint. I do plan on wearing this suit when finished.

I've only printed the chest so far and glued it together but it still needs a bit of body work. So far the files are printing like butter and I'm really pleased with the design and quality. The back armor is printing at the moment. I hope you guys enjoy another ride.

Thank you and you pretty much summed up my free time minus my beautiful wife. The mustang has been an ongoing project as well but I have got her running and she has a V8 289 in her that purrs.

Making some progress on this suit here's a few photos

Here is the helmet with Murphy's face it's almost done for the most part just needs some mild clean up. The helmet is very movie accurate to the point where Asen the modeler even added the downward slope to the front band on the front of the helmet. It's really amazing the attention to detail he put into modeling this suit. It's pretty much 3D printing a movie accurate suit.

Here is the chest pretty much finished. I took a photo so you guys can see the comparison between the DO3D chest and the files im currently using. The DO3D chest is heavily modified and resculpted in a lot of areas by me and I got it as close as I could get to the film chest but Darthasen's chest is so much more superior. The contours and shapes are for the most part spot on movie accurate. I'm so excited to keep printing this suit and I hope to have more to share soon.

I was wondering if the files you were working with are from Do3D, since their files, while quite good, they are not perfect, specially the hands.
Great job so far.

Of course, I just bought the Do3D files when they were on sale. ☹ Looks like I’ll be making a second purchase.

Great work, again!

I too purchased the Do3D files in their sale. I'm happy enough with them though, cant justify a second outlay at the moment.

pchrisbosh1 do you have any tips for scaling accurately? I dont want to spend hours printing to find Ive sized wrong.

I wish I did. I usually scaled the pieces after I already printed them and realized they didn't fit, I then measured how many more inches I would need on either the x, y, z with a ruler then scaled them up in Simplify3d export the stl then cut it up as I needed to print properly.

Fair enough I figured that would end up being my method too!:D
Thanks though.
I'm going to start with feet, helmet, gloves. I have to rid myself of some lockdown poundage before I get to the mid section!

For the DO3D files that was definitely the part I had to upscale the most and I only have a 34 inch waist. It was ridiculously small.

Got some more progress guys. I apologize for the lack of updates here are a few pics of where I'm at. Everything is pretty much printed and now it's time to get into the detailing and getting all the parts smoothed out. Thanks for looking.
