Hello everyone! I have been a long time watcher of the forums and only a member for a short time but I wanted to start being active on here. I recently played blizzards new game Overwatch and loved the characters in it so I wanted to start making some props from the game. I just recently got a 3D printer and thought this would be a great chance to put it through its paces.

I started the process using the character reference guides available online, using this I was able to 3D model out the gun in Maya.

I brought it over to Zbrush to add in a few details and get it ready for 3D printing.

All parts of the gun where cut up to fit flat on the print bed, that involved slicing some parts in half.

After 26 hours of active printing I had a gun.

I used high build primer to fill in the print lines and some air dry spot putty.

lots of hours later I had a pretty smooth looking gun. I am now getting ready to mold and cast this bad boy. Thanks for taking a look and I look forward to updating this thread as I get more done!

One of the best RP props I seen produced on here!
I Like the way you've produced a sensible split of components so that each piece could be properly cleaned up to remove all the build lines.
Great work!

I really appreciate the compliment!

I have made the molds and am now pulling some of the first casts.

I wanted to ask if anyone had any tips for making hollow casts. I tend to get really thin spots on the casts so they aren't usable.

first full kit has been pulled. A little sanding and filling needed but to be expected.

Getting the parts hollow was a real pain and after I install lights I will fill them in. I look forward to painting this up.

This gun is pretty cool man ! It's crazy how you managed to bring it to life !
What are the other 3D designs you are working on ?

It has been a while, So I made some changes to parts of the 3D model to make it more accurate and reprinted them. I am in the process of cleaning the new parts up and then I will remold and cast them.
The new parts are in the dark grey

I have 20 days to make the costume and finish this gun for PAXeast 2016 so it will be a busy month for me.

I finished my revolver. Been real busy making the whole costume that goes with it in time for PAXeast.

I still plan to make another that has the lights installed, but I just dont have time right now for it, so blue paint it is.
I should have more updates real soon.

I love seeing how you built this as I also did McCree last year. The revolver looks fantastic, your finished weathering turned out better than mine, but sweet to see it done in a different way. Look forward to seeing how the rest of the outfit comes together.
