O.K. here's a question. Any ideas about display cases? How are you going to build yours?
The model is 37.5 inches long, but, how wide and how tall is the finished model? Just ran into an enginier at work who used to make acrylic display cases for banks. He gave me some pointers.

Hey guys, still getting back in the swing of things, a couple of school delays of course as soon as we got back has slowed me up. These schools close or delay at the first snowflake!
Anyway, I will hopefully have time this weekend to get back to everyones PM's
I am going to go ahead and start remolding any parts that need it as i go, so while production is slow do to the weather, i should be able to continue taking orders.

Has anyone worked out the details of a full landing bay since there is lots of room in this model to do a full scratch built one?

Nwerke, Randy is making these for Mike's kit? I looked on his website but didn't see them yet. They look pretty good.
Now if only someone would offer up some 3D printed Vipers!

I have a sneaking suspicion the Cooper parts are for a Revellogram kit. I hope I'm wrong though. Would save me a metric ass-ton of time if he made them for Mike's.
Ehh, I can't see Randy wasting time on making parts for the old Revellogram kit. If they are not for the Salzo kit, maybe for the Moebius.

Can't wait to get them. I'm pretty sure that even at less than minimum wage rates they will save me a LOT. LOL
In the meantime, my meteor/rain LEDs showed up. Started testing those out and seeing a lot of potential there in lieu of the chaser kit I had planned on using for the bay lights. GREAT tip on those, didn't even know they existed before. Waiting on the new fiber and drill bits to show up. I'm wondering if they get off sync as much from the voltage variation of 8 sticks as it seems to get further off sync on the later sticks or if its a factor of each sticks own unique resistance, so I'm going to be hacking those up and running a 5V supply for experimentation on that front.
Picked up an 8' stick of aluminum 1" tubing at Lowes the other day, enough for this build and about 20 others for I think $14. Also grabbed an 8' Stick of 3/8 aluminum U to be able to do some chopping and reinforcing of areas to prevent any future sag. Getting the mount all figured out and mocked in is on the agenda too, and so far I'm leaning towards the gas pipe as well, but using T's to make getting the power in easier.
I'll keep track of what I wind up using for those wondering, and when I have progress worth showing will probably start a build thread up since mines going to be unique with a "lot of special modifications" and I don't want to confuse out Mikes thread anymore than we all already have.
On that . . . Mike maybe you need to get a true "build thread" together as the guide as its pretty scattered over here? Just a thought

In the same vein of enhancements, here are some of the extras I'm offering to a client. These are based around the same process I used to make Mike the 1:2 Roco parts, (plus a couple of other small details), on his frankly jaw dropping patterns. The idea being to derive accurate details by shrinking the correct Apogee kit bashed parts by 50% and then recasting them.
I wanted to see if I could nail a few other parts just to enhance what I was making for 2 collectors build-ups. For the top dome I referenced a Custom Replicas part, but then built a new one using a UFO dome Jason Wright loaned me ( thanks Jase!). The nose plate took ages and has over 30 shrunken original kit parts ( couldn't get them all, but most) which I've then assembled individually, just as the original one would have been. Damn near driven me blind!
PS: As per Commander Cain in the original BSG. I think Mike Salzo should be given the official title of Living Legend!

Just had an email exchange with Mike as I had a query on the location of the mounting points. See attached image to see what I mean.
Basically the top mounting centre is fixed as the dome can't be moved. So, before any of us starts drilling we need to move the centre point on the coffin along towards the front, so that it lines up with the top. That will ensure that the mounting rod runs properly up through the ship. The scribed in centre point on the coffin can then just be filled over.
