32" Falcon Progress/ more new piccys page 23

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ new pics page 6

I'd say it's koolshade.

I also want to add that the previous part on the top near the dish is probably a radiator from an F1 type car. It looks like many of the parts that I have in those types of car kits (that I've collected for the ESB at-st build), but I can't find the correct one. I'd say it's about 1/20-1/24 scale. The part that's throwing me off is the two tabs on the right side of it - they don't match any of the kits I have in that scale.

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ new pics page 6

It was koolshade on the four footer, but this detail is half the size.

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ new pics page 6

Amazing love the plating pics around there nice and clean application!!!:cool:thumbsup

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ new pics page 6

Hi Guys, anyone know what this bit is please. It's not from the 8 rad or the small german armoured car...unless it's a modified part from these. Any help is great..as always.

Cheers

Phil

Hey guys

A small..ish update, doesn't look much but it's taken a while..
Front pits done, as usual a bit of scratch, cast and real..just needs a bit more plumbing.
Frontsmall.jpg

Top corridor finished..
Tuberightsmall.jpg

Other top corridor, almost finished..I've added a little bit of plumbing to the rear quarter and some styrene rod to the pit..
Tubeleftsmall.jpg

The belly's almost finished with detail and plumbing, apart from a couple of small kit parts from the M16. I need to make casts of them first. Meant to take some pics before I turned it over to work on the top, but forgot. I'll do that soon so you can see it.

That's it for now, hope you likey..

Amazing work Phil........just something about a scratch-built falcon
love to see these get tackled!!!

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ more newer pics page 6

Wow, it's coming along nicely Phil, very clean and meticulous build mate. Love seeing her with all the exposed kit parts.

Phil,

HAve you gotten an answer from anyone about your question in post #137? I was thinking about how to make that section but was looking around for any info.

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ more newer pics page 6

Hi Todd

No it's still a mystery, to me anyhoo..I was thinking of making it the same way as I've put the detail into the hatches/airlocks in the top of the corridors. They were done with evergreen sheet, it's either clapboard or just scribed sheet...can't remember the exact name... with thin rod on the top. A buddy, not on this board, thought it reminded him of a cable tie. It does look like one, so I tried a 1/4 inch one in the space and it lookes pretty good. I might leave it as it is...I don't have a pic right now, but I'll post one up when I post the belly pics...

Anyway, sorry I can't give you a definate answer, I would love to know what it really is too..

Btw, thanks for the compliments guys, they're very welcome as always.

Cheers

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ more newer pics page 6

Hi I'm no expert on detail.

I was looking at a few images of a tie fighter, and the grill/venting detail you're trying to find for your build kind of looks like the mesh detail on the tie's wing.

Like I said I'm no expert, just thinking out loud.

Your build look top notch.

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ more newer pics page 6

Right, so another update...

Rear gear bay with details, since I did this I've found some more kit bits in the flakpanzer kit, so I'll prolly swap them when I get a chance..

reargearsml.jpg

Underside mandible with plumbing..

And the other one..
Undermand1sml.jpg

Mandible sidewall stuff..
rightsidewall1sml.jpg

rightsidewall2sml.jpg

And the other side, I need to finish off the front end of this but I'm struggling to find the correct parts, so if anyone could enlighten me that would be fab.. If not I'll have to get scratch building again...
leftsidewall1sml.jpg

And cockpit tube top..
cockpittopsml-1.jpg

I'm not sure about the detail in the front bit, the MR pics I have seem to show the styrene channel, but the pics of the actual model on studioscale don't seem to have the channel and have just strip with a notch or two cut into it..hmm,, might have to change that..

Anyhoo, there you go, as usual with this there's some real parts, scratch and guesswork and It's taken ages to get to this stage but I'm determined to finish the bugger !

Cheers

Awesome Phil, really clean work...say, that black ribbed strip on the cockpit tube.....forgive me if it "is" a grail kit part you have applied.......but, is that a Zip tie? If so, cool way to tackle it.

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ more newer pics page 7

What a tremendous undertaking. I'll bet you'll be glad when this build is behind you. Definitely watching this one to the end.

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ more newer pics page 7

Hey Lee, yeah it's a grail part, totally top secret stuff so I don't think I can tell you...nah not really, you're right it's a zip tie..:lol
Wasn't my idea though, my buddys son had a look at the thread and thought it looked like one, so I stuck it on. I think it helps to have a new set of eyes look at stuff..gives a different point of view..

Firespray, I will indeed be glad to see it finished, there's still the waistband to finish and all that stuff on the rear deck. I still don't know how I'll do the spoilers and connecting rods and stuff back there.

Cheers

Phil

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ more newer pics page 7

Phil, i love it, as it goes, the reason i picked it out, as i was going to use a similar tech for the ribbed part on the Transport upper engine cowls lol, awesome work buddy, really looks the part!

bests.....lee

Re: 32" Falcon Progress/ more newer pics page 7

Lee, I dunno if you've seen it but evergreen do a sheet of "clapboard" that has a similar ribbing to the zip tie. I thought I'd mention it 'cos the sheet's quite thin, about .75mm...I thought it might be easier to bend and cut if you need something to wrap around a smaller dia..

Also those tie's are from poundworld or poundland..can't remember the difference, anyhoo, they had a couple of different sizes and there's quite a few in the packet so if you want a few LMK.
Bests
