Re: Sulaco build up

Well, the model looks fantastic, but the base lighting is GENIUS. Great job.

Re: Sulaco build up

Agreed! What a great look!! I'd love to see some additional shading of th panels down the road . . .but man, that's bad-ass!

Re: Sulaco build up

i'm sure i'll attempt to weather it down the line.

Some minor tweaks and additions need to be made if i want to get it screen accurate it's like 90% there.

thanks

Call me stupid but I have no idea at all where this ship comes from?

Anyhoo, it's looking real nice .. and ditto on the base .. very nice work!!! Any chance we see the whole setup under different lighting?

Great work and cheers to you for the nice build!

You sir are a liar! You are much more talented that that. :cool

I agree that the lighting is brilliant. In the film this ship is very dramatically lit, very dark space-lighting with blue under-glow coming from the planet. Your build captures that well.

And the Sulaco is the Colonial Marines ship from ALIENS, for those who don't know.

nah i won't call ya stupid......just living in a cave:lol...totally kiddin
the Sulaco is the ship that brought the marines to the planet LV-426 in aliens.

it only has about 30 seconds total in screen time....

but if ya want to geek out totally on it...here

thanks for the feedback i wasn't sure about posting it on here since i see so many cool pieces being worked on, but i figured...ehh what the hay

i was going to add some sort of plaque to the base and was thinking something along these lines

plaque_1.jpg

if anyone can think of a cool way to do this besides printing it ...i'm all ears

considering how awesome your stand is in the first place I think you need
to raise your game...

how about having the sulaco text cut out in aluminium using the microgramma typeface and
having the A L I E N S logo laser cut out of the base wall - thenyou would have that great glow just like the film logo and you
already have the lighting wired in there.

sounds very cool and expensive...or i could just hit "print" and glue.

but i agree i shouldn't half ass it

Very nice Andrew. We should discuss weathering techniques. That miniature was not heavily weathered, so a light application should be all it needs.

Something like a #2 or #3 on the Fulmer Scale of Weathering.

always willing to learn new things bro...look forward to picking your brain...

example....like i had no idea what the hell a Fulmer Scale of Weathering was till now.

TBH, it had been so long since i built a kit, I was quite surprised to find the exact color i was looking for straight out of the can ...literally......3rd from the right
