So I am mostly finished with this thing now, but I thought I would show a bit of my progress on here.
The armor at its pep'd stage.

Looking pretty good. I would have faired out the legs a bit more, but the upper half looks awesome.

Not flared, faired. It means smoothing out the "lines" created by the pep.

Well the not so bad thing about that is when its all finished with what I have planned for the legs and other parts of the lower half (its a surprise) that's not really gonna be all that noticeable.

Gotcha, lots of details that will hide the lack of finish work. Fair enough, I'd probably do the same thing

Ok guys, didnt get too much done with the armor this weekend, I have been EXTREMELY busy, and the bad part is its not gonna let up until after memorial day it looks like. : (
BUT what I did manage to get done I feel to be a achievement/milestone for me.
I have finished glassing/bondoing the armor and just tonight got done sanding the right shin and thigh!
I still have some spot filling to do and some touch up work but for the most part I am gonna say they are done and ready for the painting/detailing stage.
have a look at what I have done so far and what I have left to do.
The cool thing I like about this pic is it looks like someone is in the armor and just chilling out kinda
    [IMG]
and with this one @prev, you can see I kinda took your advice with the eagle on the shin, let me know what you think!

THAT is freakin' impressive. I also like that you went with Mk VIII armor. A nice change of pace.

I got both legs rigged up finally, now I have to seal the foam for the heraldry and paint the darn things, also I am pulling off a cool Superman pose
    [IMG]
I have no idea what kinda face I am making here

The back cloth is not finished yet, gotta paint the skulls gold still and die the cloth. Then I have to weather/battle damage up both the front and the back cloth still.

yes I know in some of the shots my arm was showing under the shoulder, this was just a test shoot to see how it all worked together. That and it was like 100 degrees out today, I sweat like a gallon and a half. The other great thing is the lenses didnt fog up the entire time

Beautiful, man. I'm not an expert, but it looks like the helmet may be sitting a smidge too low, but I understand the logistics. SM is a hard costume to make .=) Good job though!

I just joined this forum as a complete beginner looking to do a few builds when I came across this thread.

This is probably one of the single coolest things I have ever seen in my short life. That costume looks absolutely insane!

Its fairly bulky, the top half alone weighs about 40lbs, I really need to take a few photos with other people in them, and thanks for all the comments guys!

Dude, that look bad *, and I hope you take thsi as a complimment, looks cooler with the helmet off, the Mk7/8 helmet is cool, but I always liked a groff looking marine with his helmet off in the armor and you fit the bill. Awesome build!

    Also...

Try not to take offense at the lack of fast responses sometimes on this board, there are tens of thousands of members and sometimes a post gets bumped nine pages back in like 10 hours, and you are posting along with what I consisder to be the most talented people on earth on the RPF, your work is fantastic but Warhammer 40k is a niche thing that many are not familiar with, so some people may now even know what you've built, I do and it's frigging awesome :)

Its alright man, I don't mind. I just like sharing it. I have targeted enough 40k groups through Facebook and deviantart and have gotten plenty of awwe and praise. I just like spreading it around mostly to kinda generate interest in the 40k costuming community. I know there aren't many of us out there and I like showing that it can be done. I will probably shoe these off in the completed costumes section too.
